I like the fatbars, and even with the adaptor clamps they were 1/2 pound lighter than the renthals and stock clamps. The tensile strength of these bars is incredible. I think I can ride longer with less fatigue, the thicker center section soaks up more vibration.
It also seems to help with the format we adopted last year. Nov & Int ride at 10AM, Adv & up ride at 1PM. Cuts down on the emmisions and waiting in lines.
I have to agree, Beta gives top notch support. Here in the US, we are fortunate to have the Commo's taking very good care of us. I am on my 4th Beta, I had a slight problem with electronics on one bike. No problem though as I was given new parts under warranty!
I put fat bars on my Beta. By using a universal adaptor kit and ProTaper's factory Suzuki bend, they are within a millimeter or two of the stock setup in height, sweep, and width. I really like this setup, and its 8 ounces lighter than stock. (including the adaptors)
My personal favorite is the Dunlop. It has a sturdier side wall which doesn't cut as easy, and I find the traction great as well. And they are cheaper than Michelins.
The 04 and 05 fenders are identical except for the date of manufacture. If you can get one with the older date, I think its sometime in 03, they are more durable. I never broke one on my 04, but broke the 05 fender 3 times (kept remounting it). Now I have solved the problem- I purchased a generic sherco fender (about $25 US) they are very flexible, almost like rubber, and look good too! Now to get some graphics for it..........
I take an exacto knife and cut the skid plate rubber so the "hidden" bolt is exposed. Then you can check it whenever, without taking off the skid plate.
I did this on my '03, and found the bolt was completely backed out.
