  1. Hi all

I want to make my 1st gear longer(is that the right description?) as it revs out quickly,on my EVO 250 2010.

Any ideas on sprocket sizes, and what difference it will make?

    Regards

if you got it second hand the previous owner may have dropped 1 tooth on the front. check the size,(11 is standard) upping by 1 on the front will make quite a diference :icon_salut:

  2. A #120 in a PHBL should be slightly rich in most cases. To start with, I'd pull the carb and do a jetting map, recording what exactly is in your carb, rather than assuming and that way you would have an idea of where to go. If the knocking is at partial throttle (most of us rarely ride at full throttle), raising the needle might solve the problem.

The fuel screw is set by engine demand rather than a set amount (which is why the screw is adjustable). I set mine by warming the engine up and quickly open/close the throttle and adjust the screw in/out to get the best response (sometimes a 1/4 turn rich after that is somewhat better).

    Jon

hi jon, thought i would let you know that your initial recomendation was the right one  i put the 118 back in and lifted the needle 1 notch. much better knock gone. many thanks :icon_salut:

  3. My son just received his 2011 Beta, and wow! The 2010 was an amazing bike, its hard to believe how much nicer the 2011 bike is.

hi steve. i had a 2010 evo and loved it! ive got a gasser now and love that too. what noteable improvments have you found on the 2011 evo?

  4. Hi all

New to this,so i would like to ask the following:

How do you adjust the sag on my EVO 2010 250,i have read all the threads but still am struggling,i understand the measurement, but am struggling with the rest.

How do i adjust the rebound on my front forks?

How do i adjust the dammping on my front forks?

How do i adjust the rebound on my rear shock?

How do i adjust the damping on my rear shock?

How do i adjust the sag om my rear shock?

How do i adjust the sag on my front forks?

Sorry for the very basic questions, but i know if i ask you guys i will get the awnsers, please awnser in basic terms.

    Cheers

question 1 and 2 is adjusted by the flat headed screw on top of right hand fork, clockwise = more damping

question 3 and 4 is adjusted by flat head screw on top of shock facing airbox, clockwise = more damping

question 5 is preload adjusted by compressing or relaxing rear spring. large silver nuts at bottom of spring

question 6 is preload adjuster, allan key on top of left hand fork, clockwise = more preload. ie less sag

  5. many thanks jse. pulled main jet to find a 118 replaced with the 120, fuel screw now at a more sensible 3 turns out. 1st impressions are good, throttle is far crisper, i think the 120 suits our cold thick air here in scotland, will get a better idea at the weekend

  6. just got a new raga 2010 250. does anyone know which jets are in as standard uk? bike came with a spare 120 main. i have a slight knock at higher rpm when covering ground so i am guessing that main jet needs upping. dont want to strip carb to find that its 120 or bigger. or what do you think? fuel screw out 4.5 turns. anyone go out further than that? dellorto phbl 26. cheers

  7. Will be calling them first thing tomorrow, it's now way past being funny

how did you get on duggan? im in the process of updating to a 2011 but this is concerning me. ive had no probs with my 2010 so dont fancy this kind of expence every time i drop it. could be a deal breaker unless some assurances are given from beta. cheers.

  8. I think the manual says Bardahl or Bel-Ray 5wt. All 5wts are not the same. They all have a different centistoke value even if the bottle says 5wt. Use this chart to get an oil thats close to the oem oil.

cheers liviob just checked page 49 on the manual. as per your post  no joy on your link though.im kinda hoping the pj1 is a little heavier. but will use it now ive got it thanks.

  9. Hi I think most people use 5w some people dabble with 10w if they are a bit on the heavy side! Rij

cheers rij i,ll probably just go with the 5w then. the manual called for oj01 and i just wanted to know what this was. thanks for the reply.

  10. does anyone know if the rear brake disk from a 2007 rev 3 is compatable with an evo? i heard they may be larger in diameter and could be turned down to suit ? anyone know for sure ? thanks

  11. Simple maths ratio one is 4.182 the other 4.3 therefore 10 42 is very close to 11 46

yea dabs i know that the ratios are almost identical. my question is more to to with how the power will be delivered ?

  12. using the rule of thumb that 1 tooth off the front = approx 3 on the rear, will a bike with say 10 front and 43 rear behave exactly the same as 11 front and 46 rear? or will there be a difference in torque? :rotfl:

  13. Hi all just woundering if anyone has upgraded the spring on there evo, seen white ones on saunders website, does this make a big difference? a weigh bout 11 and harf stone and seems fairly soft on back end, any help please people.

Also has any one had any troble or done a mod for water geting in egnition case ?? or is it case of drying off after every wash e.t.c ?

i got 1 from sxs . the bike was bottoming out before. i weigh 13 stone, well worth it. (there is 1 for sale in the classifieds for

  14. cheers motomerlin your the second person to mention this in the last 24hrs. i did not realise that this is most likely to be the problem and should save a lot of messing about. is it just a case of slackening screws and letting air out? many thanks.

  15. thanks guys good info. glad to know there is a little adustment on the rebound side if required. however the front end appears to have been jacked right up. so will start by reducing the preload before changing spings or fork oil. do i reduce the spacer length on both sides?

  16. my mate wants to soften the front end on his 2007 TXT pro 280. i understand that to reduce the preload he should reduce the length of the preload spacer. should this be done on both forks or just the preload left? many thanks
