  1. OTF,

    Thanks for the information.

I just wasn't sure how much difference the piston and cam make to ignition timing. I guess I can always phone Alan and ask! (he has never been anything but helpful).

I have seen the fantastic job Alan does on the push rod inspection hatch but will have to do it myself as I spent the remainder of my budget on one of Alans cnc machined gear change levers instead!

I have also recently discovered Classic Dirt Bike Mag and obtained back issue 16 which has an article on the Comerford Cubs. In the Article Donald from Armac reccomends setting the clutch using a DTI. I'm assuming you operate/disengauge the clutch and adjust the 3 springs until the pressure plate runs true (using the DTI to check). Has anyone else done this?

The VM22 Mikuni carb advert said the following in reference to its size:

"PLEASE NOTE 26mm IS THE WIDTH OF THE OUTLET SIDE. THE SLIDE IS 22mm."

    Bruce.

Get in touch with motocarb and get the VM20 the smaller carb is better suited to the 199 cub.

  2. General thought is that the Dellorto 22mm is best but surely the 20mm version would be better suited, for the standard 199cc engine, but apparently this is unavailable now. I have searched around and Mikuni do a VM22 set up for the cub amd a VM20. I am tempted to try the 20mm version but there are no base settings for this, has anyone tried the Mikuni on a cub?

  3. Soory but i disagree, in these days most people have internet access and there is no excuse for a club not to have their results on the web by the middle of the week following the trial. This was highlighted in one of Mike Rapleys colums recently. We all like to see where we finished and if we did better or worse than our mates, i can understand that some are not botherd about results but if we all felt like that then we might as well give up competing and just go practicing each weekend!

Had this list of Honda parts numbers whan i had a 250 TLR some of you might find it usefull. I used them to get parts from my local Honda dealer. The anti judder kit is as fitted to CG 125 and it helps to smooth the clutch out. Gordon Farley Motorcycles were my main source of supply for bits as they seemed to know a fair bit about the TLR's

  5. Hi you are right numbers are limited to 50 twinshocks. I suggest you get your mates entries, and send them in together.

Keep checking the Manx Trials Club Website. They will be out late Jan. Entry is usually full within two weeks.!

It is well worth the effort though. Feed back from riders is the best twinshock trial they have ridden.

    Cheers Paul ansermoz

Apart from the reduced time limit which is a bit tight, starting early both days, being the section scrubbers both days (they used to mix the entry up)and the cost of the whole weekend then yes it is a good trial. Better if you ride pre 65 since you then get a bit more time to look at the sections and soak up the atmosphere. After riding in it since 99 and not getting in last year 2010 wont see me entering, manily due to the cost.

  6. I have been running a new Mk1 on my 199cc cub and found it runs better than the dellorto. I have a 2.5 slide and feel this stops a lot of spitting etc. I have also found its worth sleeving the enging side of the carb down to about 20mm which improves the bottom end but then takes a bit of setting up on the main jet. This is just what i have found but i am no expert just like to tinker a bit!

  7. Sorry lee but i beg to differ! sometimes my 200 would run backwards even doing so once whilst in a section,(other 200 owners also had same problem)altering the timing just slightly cured this and i definatly noticed the differance. Clockwise advances the ignition. I retarded it slightly, about a punch mark's differance it also took a bit of the sharpness off so i took it back a weeny bit! and its been fine since.

  8. results here http://www.todotrial.com/ttclasico/indexttclasico-total.htm

Am i missing something here? how come the UK's premier pre 65 trial's results can only be found on a Spanish site!!! or are they on the SSDT one? If they are not available on the SSDT site then there is a lot of truth in what Mike Rapley has pointed out in his column and it really is a poor show that nearly 3 days after the event people are still trying to find out the results.
