Forgot to say, when the engine is first started from stone cold it doesn't seem to do it, then all of a sudden it starts ting ting ting!!!

Hi guys, was out on the bike last week when near the end of the day the bike stated to make a ting ting metallic noise. It was engine speed related and started all of a sudden. No noticeable drop in performance, just an odd noise. Yesterday I whipped the motor out to inspect, took the barrel off and all looks fine, no marks on the piston or bore and no play in small end bearing or rod. Motor will be in bits for a few days anyway as am putting an s3 piston in anyway. Any ideas where to look next? Am going to take flywheel off and have a goosey behind there, mate of mine has a flywheel puller that fits his sherco 2.9, will it be the same do you know? Many thanks guys!

check both pistons are moving freely in the caliper, if one is a little sticky it can feel like this (i had a similar thing or a road bike)
