  1. Well that was certainly a fabulous day! The easiest section was comparable to the most difficult we have tackle before. Buts still we had a laugh and were made to feel most welcome by everyone! Mclarke - I believe you introduced youreself whilst I was upsidedown in a mudhole? Sorry I wasnt more curtious but was a bit embarrised at the moment in time. Whens the next event !!!! Oh yes - we missed a few sections as one of our bikes blew up. I nipped home, got the van and recovered the bike. We swapped engines and returned to the trial. Must get more organised. Thanks to all who helped on the day. Nic & Treve.
  2. Thanks guys. Were not sure how difficult this trial was going to be. We recently rode the cornwall centre end to end trial as most cornwall LDT's have a C90 class. We got around ok with only a few 5's even making it up the famous blue hills section for only a 3. Our bikes are a bit purple helmet style with tele forks fitted. See you on Sunday.
  3. Is anyone on here doing the Sphinx Long Distance Trial this weekend? Has anyone done it before? A mate and I have entered on Honda C90's for a bit of fun, so dont laugh at us ! Are we going to get around? Not that I mind if we dont really. But I would like to get a few 3's rather than just straight 5's.
  4. Sorry - face book this. Honda C90 Run - John O'Groats to Lands End
  5. Most were pretty standard with only trials tyres fitted. I'll try to send you a few links of photo's showing the C90 in action. If your on facebook type in "slow way down". most are on there. My mate Martin will be getting some trials tyres in stock in the next couple of weeks, too late for me mind. Give him a call on 01209 710515.
  6. Yes also found the catspaw tread.. I have some but I need more. I think we depleted the stocks last year doing a lands end to jog run. we all used trials type tyres for that run and there were 27 of us. Will keep you posted. The aus postal ones were only about
  7. I am in need of some Trials Tyres to fit a Honda C90. The only ones which fit are made for the Australian Postal Service and stocks are running low. Does anyone know of anywhere which stocks these? I have found some but I have run out of options. I need another 9 I think. I am doing a Road Trial with a group of mates in a couple of weeks, so it

    Fantic 200

Well it runs just fine in the garage! I have yet to ride it. Although I have never riden a 200 before so I have no datum. Will keep you informed.

    Fantic 200

We have tick over ! Apparently only the very first Fantic’s made (1978/79) had the 20mm diameter crank on the Pinion side. All of the later models were 22mm.

    Fantic 200

After a great deal of faffing about with this fantic. I decided it must must be an air leak. So I removed the carb and simply filled the crank cases up to the inlet port height with paraffin. It drained away quickly so now I knew there was a leak and it must be into the gearbox as it was not coming out anywhere I could see. I removed the cluch cover and flooded the garage floor with paraffin. The leak was behind the crank pinion flywheel. The reason simply being the crank seal installed having a 22mm bore and it should be a 20mm bore. My excuse is

    Fantic 200

That is a good question. The reason or rather my logic was, it once ran with a cut down piston fitted and it must have run for a good few hours as the old cut down piston was worn. & Bill Pye told me I had to cut it down as it was a converted 125! The engine also knocked when running as it something like the piston was hitting something. Its actually nowrunning the best it ever has and nearly ticks over. But it still fails at those low revs and other times it picks up and revs. I cannot find a constant. I am wondering it it could be down to float level? or maybe the needle position. Anyone know the correct float setting ?

    Fantic 200

I checked for cracks or leak paths through to both sides of the crank cases - nothing. I removed 3mm from the skirt as per the old piston and installed it with the 3mm spacer in position. It nearly killed my trying to get it to fire up and then it ran very poorly indeed. Stripped it again removed the spacer and it runs slightly better but its still racing. Too late now to play with it tonight.

    Fantic 200

No I didnt. I measured the modified 125 barrel against a old 200 barrel I have kicking about. Everything appeared to be the same, I must have been wrong eh !

    Fantic 200

Although I am not quite sure about why this is the case it appears the fault might be to do with the 125 to 156cc conversion. I

    Fantic 200

The above cure didntwork as I thought. The bike is nearly ticking over now but fails at the last hurdle. What are the symptoms of a worn slide? or just a knackered carb?

    Fantic 200

Niether of the above did the trick. I tried a 200 carb and that seems to have worked. Not ridden it yet but at least it ticks over now.

    Fantic 200

Guys, I have a Fantic FM250 (125cc) which has been converted to a 156cc by using a liner. Its got a new Piston and ring fitted / new big end new mains and crank seals. I honed the cylinder a little but didn

    Fantic 125 / 200 Engine

Hi and thanks for your reply. I knew about the TS piston conversion but it has a genuine Fantic piston fitted.

    Fantic 125 / 200 Engine

I stripped down an old 200 engine this afternoon and the converted 125 is the same in all respects. So I assume the spacer is there just to soften the power.
  21. I have just started to pull my very old (1979 or 1980) apart to do the crank seals as its as flat as a pancake. Written on top of the cylinder is "Keith Horsman ? E.D. Silsden W Yorks 20 M?? 82. The ? means I cannot read the letters. I assume he might have converted it to a 156cc from a 125? It does not appear to be ported as the original castings are untounched. Also there is a 3mm thick spacer plate under the barrel? Would you put the spacer plate back in and why is it there? Should this bike have a head gasket fitted? There is a paper one there at the moment which will need changing obviously. Thanks guys.
