May 28, 200719 yr Hi, now i've heard that rev 3's are prone for letting water into the flywheel casing,causing stator problems, now i've had my stator fixed (motoplat) plug hehe,,, . How do you stop water getting into flywheel casing., i've tried silicon sealer ect but when i remove flywheel cover there is always water in there.My mate has a 04 270 gas gas and has never had this problem. Please help me sort this problem once and for all.
May 28, 200719 yr Forget the silicone, whip the cover off and snip a small "V" shape out of the bottom edge with a pair of side cut snips. If (when) the water gets in, it gets out too - simple...
May 28, 200719 yr seal it up and leave it on. How do you know it's sealed 100%, do you open it up and check or leave it and hope for the best?
May 29, 200719 yr You are very unlikely to seal it up completely to make it stay totaly watertight as said put holes in it this is what mine is like, remove it now and then to spray in some corrosion inhibitor .It will stay dry and rust free believe it or not you will not suffer any problems in corrosion terms!
May 30, 200719 yr This is our 11th year with betas, (up until recently is was 2 new ones each year) and ours were sealed up and left on, it wasnt silicone seal, i will get the name of it and post it here just in case anyone wants to go down that route anyway.
May 31, 200719 yr if you get any of the bonding adhesives that are used when your joining crankcases,they should seal her up!
June 1, 200719 yr If you don't want to cut a "V" in the casing just drill a small hole at the bottom and that will let the water out.
