What a fantastic event, I don't know why I left it 19 years since I last was down to see it.

Well done Richmond Club, what a trial. What a great atmosphere at the awards presentation, that charity auction was well worth me taking my brass out of my pocket!

Someone pulled me up for saying that the Scott was the best trial in the world - "what about the Scottish?"

The Scottish is of course the best 'trials event' in the World but it is what you make it, it can be a 'holiday in the highlands', or a serious competition or, for the majority, somewhere in-between.

However the Scott is a pure trial - there are no half measures, no team tactics, no hidden agendas, it down to one rider and one bike and needs strength, stamina, ability, but above all, unprecedented levels of commitment and determination. The sport needs an event like this and its great to see the Scott getting the support it deserves.

could the 'scott' be the new british world championship round..

ride if you want boys but richmond will make the rules the same as they've always been..

that should also satisfy last weeks demand for more traditional trials..

if big Mart can organise a 'unofficial indoor world championship round' then the 'scott' can be the outdoor equivlent

If Doug and Fuji and Jordi Pascuet want to compete perhaps the worlds best riders are looking at other types of event outside the WTC ? Have they had enough of just riding the wtc and whats the chances of them influencing the style of sections at world level to be less extreme / more non stop ?

WTC riders have always rode more than just the WTC, generally they also ride their respected nations championships, although not the case for Doug, Fujigas or Dibs. The restriction on riding events like the Scott and the Scottish is more to not being allowed to by their respective factories due to the worry of possible injuries.

I think the riders influence on type of sections is somewhat limited. Years ago riders would group together to get sections changed to make them less severe, in more recent times this is looked upon as a weakness.

After looking at the photo's, healthy looking turnout of spectators, nice weather for the event has to be one icentive, also the big names, but is this type of an event more enjoyable to watch, than a world round ?

Obviously once the action starts, riders of all classes and ability are coming through the sections thick and fast, is it just as entertaining to watch a club rider struggle as it is to see a top rider level a section.

In world trials they try and keep a short course with plenty of facilties so the spectator can keep up with the action. At the Scott How many groups can you sensibly get to for spectating before the event is over ?

I would have said more spectators than last year - certainly more traffic, but Richmond now have a reasonably good hand on traffic management so it's not the free-for-all chaos it used to be. Personally, I find it great fun to watch - especially in the earlier sections where the riders are REALLY bunched up and you get several in a section at once. Later on once they're more spread out that doesn't happen so much.

I do three, but could probably fit in four or five. I like to get back to the start field to catch first man in hence leaving sections earlier.
