I snapped the bottom bracket of my footrest yesterday and was wondering how to re-attach it (welding, brazing etc...).

Arc or mig weld mate... but take the plug cap off the plug at least before you do so or your electrics may get fried.

has anyone tried doing this on a pro??

if so are you happy with the results, is it as strong? would you do it again??

I had mine tig welded with stainless steel filler rod,doesn't rust and blends in wel against the chrome ,you can't tell its been done and its b****y strong.I UNPLUGGED EVERY CONNECTOR,maybe its unneccesary but its safer than frying something then not knowing which part you cooked when/if it won't go,and potentially spending a lot

I agree, you need to isolate the electrics as much as possible. Make sure the welder knows the frame material is ChroMoly, not mild steel and to keep the ground clamp as close to the weld area as possible.

I agree with Jon, best to disconnect the electrics first. The frame and the footrest both weld well with MIG.

if you had a beta, you could just replace the bracket

i had my old fantic section footpeg welded, disconnect all the electrics & make sure there is no petrol leaking from the carb, as it will catch fire

wouldn't you have to take the whole engine out if you were to weld it back on? not just take the plug cap off?
