French Wtc Round & Pat Smage?

I have just been browsing through the Trial online site, and looking at the provisional entry list for France. According to the list there is no sign of Pat Smage!

Is he missing this round?

Doubt it, first of three and the list is compiled by Charley and he has been no to make the odd error.

Smage will be there I bet.

Having looked into the provisional entry lists for the rest of the season Pat is not down to ride any. Charley may make the odd error but surely not the same error in all of the six remaining WTC rounds?

Pat has been riding with considerable low back pain since late March ,Last 2 weeks we have spent getting 1st an X-ray then an MRI and finally a CT scan . Since riding and long spells of sitting are what bothers most we have had to cancel France. Good news is the last specialist doesnt claim the best plan of care should be a 6 week to 6 month rest like I had gathered from some web med pages;but 10 to 20 trips to a sports Physical Therapist to manage the pain. When he feels he can be effective and ride close to his ability we may resume the WTC series .

Is it me or is it just coincidence, but Pat hasnt been entered in the second half of the series right from the beginning of the year, according to Charlys provisional entry lists, unlike all the other main championship contenders who have been entered for the full season right from the start.

Also the above post doesnt read like the Smage camp are particulary bothered about missing the second half of the season!

To be honest its a shame, cos the Championship was shaping up nicely.

Not bothered? Are you freaking kidding me? We're all heartbroken. But, Patrick's health is more important than a title. Still, I'm so sad, I didn't know how to put it into words. That's why I've been so silent about the matter up until now. I'm sure going to miss the battle Pat had going with Jack. Though he's still young and will have many more chances.

Pat told me he'd do a press release regarding the matter and I'll post it when he finishes it up.

I wasnt having a go, its just how the post read to me.

Hope Pat gets sorted, and look forward to seeing him back on this side of the pond.

I enrolled first for the 1st 1/2 the season and then recently added the rest because with the AMA insisting on $215 $USD$ rep event it was a bit easier on the credit card statement and requirement to pay. Its very hard to know how the season may progress as all the appointments kill time and none of the PT has started so no knowing if it might be effective and how quickly.

I first noticed something was wrong while practicing in Oklahoma the day after the Sooner Cup, but I thought it would get better so I just tried to ignore it...."

"Well after feeling it everyday for over 2 months, I got it checked out and now I have to go to physical therapy for the next 4-6 weeks. Which means I will not be able to ride the next few World Rounds. I'm really sorry to let everyone down, but after hurting very bad in Japan and not even being able to walk without a lot of pain a few days after, I cant keep riding like this. I'm not riding like I know that I can, and it has been really frustrating."

Back injuries are not something that you don't want to have heal right.

Ya'll are thinking of the future which is a good thing.

Pat may miss some or the rest of this season, but if he heals properly he will have many years of riding at the world level to come.

Pat,

You have made the US proud!!!! :wall:

100% the right thing to do, its hard working on anyone with a spondylolysis but the one thing i always dread is an athlete who wants to perform now and can't see the bigger picture.

Good luck!!
