Oil Leak Temporary Fix?

Featured Replies

OK, it's not a trials bike but I guess my question is pretty generic: My KTM Duke 2 has developed an oil leak from behind the water pump. Unfortunately the pump is driven by the camshaft so it's quite a big job to remove it and replace the seal. Is there anything I can do to temporarily (or permanently?) to stop the leak until I have time to do a proper job? I'm thinking hi-temp silicon or something. This bike is my daily transport for the time being so downtime isn't easy to come by.

Thanks for any advice.

Araldite Neon, stays pliable when hot and stopped my 4RT leak, JB Weld is a more permanent fix but might be a **** to get off at a later date

You can get the plastic metal or epxy putty from decet plumbers merchants and that has worked on my 4rt since the summer.

I think you are saying the leak is from the seal itself? If so, you may be able to get an oil additive that will soften the seal and stop the leak for a while - try Frost automotive.... http://www.frost.co.uk/
