November 10, 200817 yr Best idea is to go to your local Bike dealer and try on the various selection, i have the oiled Gaerne Boots, though my legs are like Pipe cleaners so i can't help you there !
November 10, 200817 yr Alpinestars are pretty adjustable and go to a good width. Get a pair of sealskins as well cos they leak like a sieve but they are the comfiest boots I've ever worn. DON'T BUY WHITE ONES...

November 11, 200817 yr Diadora stone 3. I have a fat right calf (due to an ice hockey injury) and a not so small left one. these boots fit both great and are very comfortable. at 120 pounds (much internet searching and haggling) very good value.

November 11, 200817 yr Played netminder for England recreational team. Not a brilliant standard but still an honour to represent country at any level. Broke ankle (6places and torn ligaments ) on crutches for 6 months! That was learning to sKate so on my return I was stuck in goal! Was asked to play for Wasps ( as you know? the team in the 80's) but knew I would be on the bench and it would have meant stopping the rec hockey. Best game was at Livingstone, 4-1 down and as we had 3 netminders, I went on for the last period, we won 5-4 and I picked up man of the match for 1 period played!
