  1. Yes they are be buggered, you know I have looked at that sketch before and wondered what it relates to! Thankyou for that, and for the record, the way I read it.... front 25mm from edge of rim to inside of disc rear 34mm rim to centre of disc. Pictures anyone?
  2. Hi can anyone measure the wheel offset for me? I am about to rebuild the wheels on my 98 mont 315 . I think mine is incorrect as the front spokes catch the rear of the brake caliper and no matter how I mount the silencer the tyre catches. The wheels were rebuilt by the previous keeper. A measurement from outside the disc on both wheels would do me. 2 steel rules ,one as a straight edge one to measure? From outside disc to widest part of rim? Also could anyone post pictures of spoke configerations? Cheers Dom
  3. Have you been? Good one this sunday for you at Butsfield....sorry no postcode!
  4. Can organisers please include a postcode when listing a trial. Not everyone knows where they all are!
  5. Recently I was at a trial where a competitor fell off into a rose bush, quite amusing I thought untill he stood up and his face was awash with blood. The thorns had ripped into his face and lips. He was quite shocked (as many others were ) at the amount of blood. The cuts were not life threatening but the amount of blood scary. Everyone sort of waited for someone else to help him, as no-one could think of how to help, someone suggested he ''rode back to the burger van to get some napkins'' This raised a point. would it be a daft thing for all observers to carry a simple first aid kit? I am not suggesting that they administer first aid, there are plenty of riders who are first aider and observers are scarce enough. It would have been easy for me to have bandaged him up.( maybe I should carry one?) So about
  6. Nothing is involved in being a member. You need to be a member of a club and hold a licence to ride to be insured. All the cluubs seem well run and any good to join. Some have a social scene eg club house etc . Turn up at a trial when you are ready to go, tell people its your first trial, ask for advice when you need it and enjoy!
  7. Geordiland North east england not Uk (though when on holiday abroad some folk think we sound a wee bit scottish!!!)
  8. Hi, you are probably in the best place in the country for the amount of trials to compete in! I would advise to just turn up at a trial, join that club
  9. I have just put a pirelli on my 315 . Brilliant grip and seems to be wearing really well 3lb in it. I ride easy and occasional clubman and its fine for this. At 51 quid fitted against the price of a michelin there isnt a choice for me. Cheers
  10. Buddy up with someone who is better rider than you and is prepared to watch and help you.
  11. no punishment, just voluntary.
  12. Have you got the washer in the front pipe still? if not, put one back in!
  13. How about just plain alloy (polished or brushed)
  14. My 97 mont does this as well. It 'fourstrokes' and doesnt rev out. I was told it would be water and to put the choke on and run it as fast as it will go, this clears it (happened 3 times now) . I have cleaned the carb twice inbetween and I suspect its electrical, reminds me of a coil fault I had on a fantic years ago. It cost me a 3 yesterday, seems to kick in after heavy drop offs, maybe I should check for a loose wire? be interesting if someone finds the answer.
  15. I was riding yesterday and due to large entry and some of the expert sections, I found we were sat it queues for 5 -10minutes at 4 sections on each lap. Now I dont mind sitting there as it gives a chance to meet a few other competitors. The thing that really got me was most people left there engines running and (especially the youths) held them at full throttle "to clean them out" I think some rule should be in position where only up to the third in line can have the engine running. (unless it was hard to push to the start) What do you think?
  16. The hill climb at Elsdon deer park circa 1988 determined to get my 125 fantic to the top, I changed down half way up, hit neutral and started going backwards ,upright and at some speed. Decided to bail out and ended up with whiplash to my kneck. Guess what number I was riding that day, yup 13! last week at Bilsdale. riding through a streem, Hit a submerged log on a diagonal. broken rib, twisted wrist and ankle and dented pride. Oh how they laughed!
  17. I echo above and add this I got back into trials last year after a 10 year off due to asthma. I was advised to get a 315 or a scorpa, but was told to do my homework as there are loads out there. I looked at about 5 02 315s ranging from 850 to 1350. all needed some work, the usual bearings linkages and fork seals and maybe chain and sprockets and one wanting a full motor rebuild. I wanted something trial ready .I tried to get a 98 315 off a mate. he worked on the rigs and had drifted out of trials. The bike he had bought new and had looked after it well. it needed nothingand it was
  18. Yes luckily a nice day for it. Cracked a rib last week riding at Elsdon so was going up to Castleside to spectate, stepped out of the car near section one and a chap looked at me and asked me to observe, why not I replied. So that was me at section 1and2. Really enjoyed it watching the experts on the rock step . I think all riders should try to observe at least once a year. This would cure the shortage of observers at many trials. When riding I always make a point of thanking observers, andyesterday about half did, but half didnt . So remember when you are out this weekend, thank the observers and make them feel apreciated.
  19. Cheers Just managed to get in touch with previous keeper. 3-4 is correct for the carb that is fitted and the probable cause of noise is water in the carb!
  20. HI Just on cleaning the carb on my 97 mont fitted with 04 carb. manual says 1 turn out, previous owner said 3 and 3/4. bike seems to run well but has a sort of slapping pinking noise sometimes on pick up? HELP thanks Dom

    315 Advice

OOPS just checked manual, says 1 turn out! It was the previous keeper who said 3 3/4! which is right its a 97 315 with an 04 carb?
  22. Played netminder for England recreational team. Not a brilliant standard but still an honour to represent country at any level. Broke ankle (6places and torn ligaments ) on crutches for 6 months! That was learning to sKate so on my return I was stuck in goal! Was asked to play for Wasps ( as you know? the team in the 80's) but knew I would be on the bench and it would have meant stopping the rec hockey. Best game was at Livingstone, 4-1 down and as we had 3 netminders, I went on for the last period, we won 5-4 and I picked up man of the match for 1 period played! Good days and lots of stories! retired at 30 and took up trials! Did / do you play
  23. Diadora stone 3. I have a fat right calf (due to an ice hockey injury) and a not so small left one. these boots fit both great and are very comfortable. at 120 pounds (much internet searching and haggling) very good value.
