woody Posted January 7, 2010 Report Share Posted January 7, 2010 No real answer to that as it is whatever suits personal preference. In the 70s trials and motocross bars were much higher than today's bars. Although the footrest position was also higher, it wasn't really noticeable due to the tall bars. Today's bikes have lower footrest position, longer front forks, the headstock is higher and the bar rise is lower. Fit a modern pair of 5.5" Renthals on a 70s bike with the original footrest position and, depending on how tall you are, it can feel as though you are bent too far over. On my KT I have lowered the pegs level with bottom frame tubes and fitted 6" bars. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
feetupfun Posted January 7, 2010 Report Share Posted January 7, 2010 If you want the standard KT bars they are available as replicas made in New Zealand (Fred and Debs KT Parts). My thing is to have 1970 bikes set up as they were at the time for comparison purposes so I use the replica bars on my KT (and on my OSSA MAR) and standard footpeg positions. kttwofifty Posted January 19, 2010 Report Share Posted January 19, 2010 I run Sammy Miller Sherpa T bars on mine with the pegs lowered and widened to the rear. I'm 5-9.
