Best Trails Tyre Still Michelin?

Hello

Getting a 2001 TXT 200 ready for trialing again.

Bike has been laid up for 8 years.

Rear tyre which is original fitment has cracks in rubber. It's OK for messing about on but needs sorting.

Front tyre; also original fitment, appears OK - strange!!

Rear tyre needs replacing........... so is Michelin still the best.

Seen references on various sites to IRC brand - from memory; I think!

Use 'steam powered' modem so not on site every day.

Appreciate a response from active riders.

Clubs I will join vary from mud to hard going / rocky going so need a 'do-it-all' tyre; not the best in mud but rubbish in anything

else or whatever type.

Michelin has the ultimate grip but the IRC isn't far behind especially in Mud and lasts longer.

IRC one's are faster wearing is what i have been told

Had two Michelins in 4 months One IRC has lasted that long. To be fair I replace those on NYL's bike when the Lines have disappeared from the tread blocks. There may be more life left in the Michelin at that point.

Most people myself included seem to prefer a Michelin tyre on the front wheel & either Michelin or IRC on the rear. I think the Michelin gets the vote but there aint much in it so why not see what is the best deal.

I've had good luck with IRCs. Seems like they wear better and might grip a little better in the mud. Just mounted em on 2 of my bikes. I tried a Dunlop a couple years back, that wore out REALLY quick.

I'll price up IRC out of interest.

Unless substantially cheaper will most likely stick with Mitchelin.

Once used Pirelli F&R on Beta TR34 200 10 years ago and unfortunately discovered that grip "didn't exist" on anything.
