February 7, 201115 yr H Drake, Check it's a NGK BP5ES? How long have you had this bike? ....because it sound like your plug may have been fitted cross-threaded in the past. After the first turn with a spanner it should unscrew with just the tips of your fingers. Best of balance. Neo

The plug currently in there is very difficult to remove, due to it's length If you go to the NGK web site they have a guide on there to tell you what the number/ letters stand for. Using the guide you can then find the equivalent plug to a BP5ES which there might be a shorter version available. I am assuming that when you said short you were indicating the amount of room to get the cap off and plug out of the cylinder head.

The plug currently in there is very difficult to remove, due to it's length Be sure if you get a new plug - the threaded length is the same and the electrode sticks out the same amount. If you get a plug with a shorter lenght it will not reach the combustion chamber and your performance will probably be affected. I don't know if they make a plug with a shorter porcelan section on top - and if they do will the cap you have fit the shorter top?
February 7, 201115 yr Author I think there is a little confusion here. The plug is fine in the thread and there is nothing wrong with it apart from acess being a little tight. I know on some dirt bikes it is possible to get the same plug, but with a shorter porcelain section. It just makes things a little easier thats all. just wondering if these plugs were available for the Sherco? February 7, 201115 yr remove the bolt holding the top of the tank.lift the tank up slightly and you will get the plug outa lot easier.

February 8, 201115 yr Author The shorter plugs have ecm after the numbers instead of es. Unfortunately i'm not sure if you can get them? well i can't find one anyway. You can get 7 and 8's but not 5's it seems Edited February 8, 201115 yr by Drake
