March 17, 201214 yr Hi I want to come back to trials after 10 years and want to buy a 4t, mainly for trail/explore use with a seat-tank kit. I want something reliable, not so loudy, esy to kick start, sweet at low rpm and with good grip. I'm dithering between the Beta or the Monty, MY12 Any piece of advice from your experience? Thanks. March 17, 201214 yr If you want: Reliable, Mont. Not loud, Beta, although the new Monts are quieter than the pre 09's. Sweet bottom end, either a Mont with a Laia sanz fuel map, or the 2012 mont, only had a quick go on a Beta, so not sure on that one. Good grip, Beta is very good, but so is a lower geared Mont, with a good fuel map (as above). You can get a good long ride fuel seat combo for the Monts, not sure about the Beta. Try and get a good go on both and then enjoy your choice ;0)
March 17, 201214 yr I have own them both. Here is my list: Build quality-Montesa Suspension-Definitly Montesa Quietness- Beta Grip-Beta is much better Rev range- A Montesa will rev a lot more. Strong bottom end-(300)Beta Easy to start- Montesa when cold Beta when hot, Beta after stalling the engine. Weight- Beta is lighter and feels lighter. Easy to ride- Beta (except for suspension) Here is my verdict: A Beta evo 4T with Montesa suspension Carl
March 18, 201214 yr As a trail rather than trial I would go 4rt, mine was superb on forest tracks and across the moors.
April 13, 201214 yr I have a 08 Rev 4t with LRT I use exclusively for the single track woods riding. I love it! I am sure the Monty would be good too, its just I got this Beta on a really good deal. Here are some pics of the long range tank/seat install. http://cameronsoftware.com/blog/blog/2012/04/12/beta-long-range-tank/
