I'm thinking worn rockers..... Only way is to open up the head and get mesuring....

I believe it turned out to be camshaft bearing related but I could be wrong, the memory doesn't last long now!!.

Forgive me for suggesting this, (it could Be a possiblillity, I'm no expert and I'm sure you know what your doing) but when you adjusted the valve clearances, did you turn the crank to the T mark and adjust the valve that was loose (wiggle it to make sure it was the open one), as you could have been 180 degrees out. I'm sure someone with far more knowledge, maybe able tdispel this suggestion (and confirm I'm talking b#####ks ;0)) Hope you get to the bottom of it with the minimum expense.

Yeah I made sure I was definatly on TDC ( finger in the spark plug hole and feeling for air blowing) (and a screwdriver in the spark plug hole to make sure the piston was all the way up) and then made sure that the rockers had "play" in them before setting the gaps....

I set the valve clearances to the minimum specs in the manual and have no more tapping! Problem solved.
