Hi, I am about to look at a non running 1986 241 progress 1, it's cheap but not a runner so I am wary. I have just been told it has had a rebore - I understand from this forum the original bore was chrome. Can anyone confirm this really quickly for me? I do not want to buy a pig in a poke!! Fingers crossed someone can get back to me!

Bob Wright would be the man to speak to.

From memory its chrome - I had a 1987 241 which sent most of the hard facing of the crank pin around the motor after 18 months use from new.... After that I had a Ty250r - unbreakable.

The 241, especially the Progress 1, was never really the bike to have. Leaving aside the suspension tearing the back out the gearbox, it seemed to take Fantic a while to really sort the monoshock to get it comparable with the Yam.

I'd give it the body swerve if I were you.

Thanks for the comments, it looked loriginal but all new suspension bearing required, replacement shock, then the engine has been rebored. I think I will pass. Thanks for the input. Merry Christmas!
