Bought My First Bike, Advice Needed.

Featured Replies

Got myself a nice 2003 Montesa 315r DL replica. When I was checking it over I found there was play in the rear linkage below the swingarm. What kit is best to get and where from ?

there is always a bit of play how much are we talking about

Rear wheel lifts about 5mm

It's always a good idea, when you get an second hand bike, to dismantle and check the linkage bearings.

They should be greased at least every year.

They come from the factory brand new with that kind of tolerance, buy some petrol and premix and enjoy. The used 315s that I've seen have had a tiny amount of play in the bottom bearing of the shock, this is amplified at the end of the swing-arm, don't sweat.

Congratulations on your new steed, let's see some pics?

Thanks guys, I thought that might be the case. I'll get a set of bearings and stuff and do it at my leisure. Pictures to follow.
