January 19, 201313 yr Got myself a nice 2003 Montesa 315r DL replica. When I was checking it over I found there was play in the rear linkage below the swingarm. What kit is best to get and where from ?
January 19, 201313 yr beepee I guess you've got 2 options, OEM Montesa spares from Pidcock or Sandifords. or go for something aftermarket like the all-balls (yes really) kit. http://www.allballsracing.com/27-1166.html heres one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ALL-BALLS-Linkage-Bearing-Kit-315R-Montesa-1999-2005-/181019406191?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item2a2598ef6f Dom
January 19, 201313 yr It's always a good idea, when you get an second hand bike, to dismantle and check the linkage bearings. They should be greased at least every year.
January 19, 201313 yr Rear wheel lifts about 5mm They come from the factory brand new with that kind of tolerance, buy some petrol and premix and enjoy. The used 315s that I've seen have had a tiny amount of play in the bottom bearing of the shock, this is amplified at the end of the swing-arm, don't sweat. Congratulations on your new steed, let's see some pics? Wayne Edited January 21, 201313 yr by ham2
February 8, 201313 yr Author Thanks guys, I thought that might be the case. I'll get a set of bearings and stuff and do it at my leisure. Pictures to follow.
