Beta Techno Cooling Fan, Cheap!

Hi everybody, new to the site and to trials for that matter.

I bought a 1995 Beta Techno 250 recently for a decent price, and one of the issues with it was that the cooling fan was pretty much shot. After calling around and trying to find parts for it I found that replacement fans were in the $200 range :wall: I thought of just biting the bullet and forking out the cash for it. But after a few more hours on google and every imaginable combination of "Mitsuba, PM-3, fan, cooling, Beta, Techno" put into the search box, it led me to a Honda Goldwing fan on ebay. Blades looked the same so I looked for the lowest price I could find which led me to another more generic "Honda Goldwing" fan that looked exactly like the Mitsuba PM-3 that I pulled off of the Techno. I decided to spend the $32.95 and see if it would work. Just got it today, switched out the blades from the old fan and with minimal modification to the blades it fits like a glove and it works beautifully!

Saved $167 by doing a little research!

for my 1999 techno i just brought one off a bike (early 2000's sherco) being broken for parts on ebay. it looked the same and had similar (same ???) writing. i guess they are all sourced from one common supplier?

I sent an email to the company I bought it from, saying that they should advertise that the motor fits Betas. They replied back saying that they were gonna look into changing their ad up to say that it fits in the Beta bracketry.

A few years ago the fan went on my 06 Rev3, The fan was made by Spaal who make fans for all sorts of applications. I tried all over the place to get a replacement cheaper than the £75 (I think it was a long time ago) Beta item. After I bought the replacement a very resourceful chap who rides in our centre told me the same type of fan is fitted to loads of water cooled scooters. Very cheap from a breaker. Should have asked him in the first place but you learn the hard way.
