I think most / all Cota 247 history charts (including Don Morley and all internet) now seen are basically wrong in parts.

I don't think even most / all modern Spanish commentators now know the exact

Montesa model sequence.

I have peiced some information together because I have a collection of MCNs and MCs

from the late sixties / early seventies and have been able to follow the model evolution

through the contemporary photographs and dealer adverts.

Also I was a Montesa operator at the time and now own one of the early 247s (Mk2)

It would be nice if someone could come up with a definitive sequence / list

but I don't think I have seen it yet - far from it.

All the above -- subject to my opinion of course.

Regards

Sparks

Hi Sparks,

An old mate of mine, John Hulme, has a wonderful collection of sales catalogues of most of the Spanish models and published a book about the Spanish bikes - have you seen that - would that help?

Cheers

Deryk

Hi,

Yes it's Malcolm Rathmell on his Montesa, photographed by Barry Robinson.

Could he be riding in the 1979 White Rose trial?

(perce agrees with me, it is the White Rose, the first section when the Start was at Ribblehead. New member basecampkid says it was in the 1980 White Rose. Thanks for both your helps!)

Enjoy.

Hi,

Another item from the pile of 'lost' negatives - can anyone tell us who, where or when - but photograph from Barry Robinson, so enjoy!

(Thanks cleanorbust, I agree with you, John Hemingway and obviously one of the 'smaller' motors, in '73/4)

Post no 80: not 1982 (I think he would have been on a white tank Montesa by then). Suggest 1979, in view of the Mototechnica riding

gear.

Post no 81: John Hemingway, on a Cota 123 or 172,circa 1973/4

Post no 85: Rob Edwards, (note tank sticker advertising his shop) around 1979.
