Head Gasket Beta Techno

Featured Replies

Hi all. Well I've finally finished rebuilding engine started after a few kicks much to my delight :)

However it was leaking coolant from the base of the barrel.. Removed barrel and I believe I've found the issue just wanted to make sure. On head gasket should the silicon pattern and writeing face upwards? I believe I've fitted mine upside down lol

Many thanks

Steve

pretty confusing post there Steve. Head gasket goes at the top of the barrel not the base of the barrel. Or maybe you are talking about problems with both the head and base gaskets?

My apologies. I meant the base gasket. The head gaskets (o-rings) seem fine. Still learning all the terminology on these 2strokes haha

Many thanks

Steve

Hi Steve. The techno base gasket is obselete to buy as a part. what colour is your base gasket as the green base gasket with blue piping on is for rev 3 onwards. There are two options you can go down to get a techno base gasket. 1 is to buy a full engine gasket kit from beta-uk and 2 is to buy some gasket paper and make a new one. If the base gasket hasnt been replaced it could have a slight tear.

Ah this maybe why it leaked. I recently rebuilt engine with all new gaskets but the one I fitted was green with blue seals. I've ordered a new one online where it stated it would fit techno rev and evo 125-290cc I shall see how this measures up if not I'll try making my own. Thanks for your help. When normally fitting the ones with blue pipeing would you have that facing up towards the barrel?

Cheers

Steve

That'll be intreesting as they are different! Ask me how I know

I've just compared them you are 100% correct they are indeed different! What a pain in the backside lol. I'm not buying another gasket set :-/ think if get away with a cut and shut of the two with a small bit of gasket sealant?

post a pic of the one you need, as I have a brand new unused base gasket that is of no use to me!

Ok brilliant I'll post one tonight when I finish work. :) this is my first trial bike, brought it as a wreck thinking it would be a cheap way to try the sport lol. In hindsight I wish I'd brought something newer as so many parts seem obsolete on the techno I've spent ages sourcing parts lol

Many thanks steve

Steve, had a look today and the one I have will add a 3rd to the list! Same as above but without the step bit!

All fixed now :) got a new gasket from USA. Fitted it the correct way up (Doh) and no leaks! Just got to fit everything back on now and then give her a run :) thanks everyone who's helped.
