4 Rt Gas Caps ... ?

Featured Replies

Hi all ,

As both of the aftermarket tanks I installed on my Fantic & Reflex both use the same plastic gas cap as a 4rt, And my son , always in a hurry , has cross theaded his a few times ... Now making it very difficult to put back on .

I was wondering if anyone knew what other bike uses the same gas cap ? I would love to find some metal ones in the aftermarket , to help end the problem ...

Thanks ,

Glenn

Thanks ;

I didn't know V-mar made one too , H&D is out of stock and no firm answer when they'll have them again ....

I'm just know some other Honda has to use the small cap , may just have to go to the Honda dealer with part #'s and see if they can enlighten me !

Thanks again ,

Glenn

Billyt,

Thanks for the tip about vmar! Their billet cap is about $60 Australian, the hand racing is about $178 Australian.

I have an email into vmar about shipping to Australia. They should do!

Love the front guard spacers as I get the odd stone running through between the tyre and guard, sounds like its doing damage.

The case protector looks good as well... not sure if needed but priced well!

Don't mind the red axle clams as well!

Not sure about else were. But my experience and some others I know is that the stock Montesa gas cap can and does disintegrate.

The internal base can separate from the outside cap making it useless.

Also ask Vince at V Mar about the extended rear brake pedal I had him make for me and my Respol riding buddy. The stock V MAR Montesa replacement rear brake pedal is shorter in length than the stock Montesa rear brake pedal which is good. However the foot rest is VERY narrow causing one’s foot to roll off of it during hard braking. I had him make me a wider foot rest on the rear pedal and it works great.

I also find the stock Montesa gas caps to leak as the seal under the cap gets broken as one twists it on and off repeatably.

The V Mar has a nice big thick O ring that seal gas cap to petrol tank.

Tell him Billy Traynor in Irvine advised you about getting the re-designed rear brake pedal. :icon_salut:

Hey Mags

Vince at V-Mar regularly ships across the Pacific to AU and NZ. A few 4RT's around here with snail cams and case guards of his. You should have a case guard. And, now that you know they exist and are umhing and aching about whether to get one, you are statically more likely to throw a chain and be in need of one next weekend! V-Mar also does some nice mudguard risers and brake hose clamps. These are small beautifully crafted items that fit in Dad's Xmas stocking at the end of the bed so much more easily than say, Renthal handlebars. Ross
