August 25, 200521 yr hi, i have just purchased a 2003 125cc sherco and was wondering where i check or fill up the gearbox oil,can anybody help me? also what is the petrol/oil ratio? thanks james
August 25, 200521 yr There are other wiser than me who will corrcet me if I am wrong, but I dont think there is a level plug as such. If the bike is second hand & new to you an oil change would be a good idea anyhow. The fuel/oil ratio on my 290 is on a sticker on the frame near the headstock (2%) I would guess yours is the same. Failing that go to the Ryan Young Website (search "RYPUSA") more info there than you can shake a stick at. enjoy the bike
August 25, 200521 yr Go to this address: http://www.shercousa.com/pdfs/sherco_setup...ation_guide.pdf and open the "Sherco Setup and Lubrication Guide" it was written for the 2.9 but most of the information is the same for your 125. Wayne
August 25, 200521 yr When refilling the oil, I just take the tank off and lie the bike on the ground. Pop a funnel in the filler hole and go. Much faster and easier than the funnel with attached hose that I used to hang off the handlebar.
August 26, 200521 yr If you are in the uk try castrol tqf, cut the little spout about 15mm and then push in and fill up, 450cc as stated above.
August 29, 200521 yr Author ok, thanks every1 i have bought some oil and am going 2 change it shortly thanks james
December 15, 201213 yr When refilling the oil, I just take the tank off and lie the bike on the ground. Pop a funnel in the filler hole and go. Much faster and easier than the funnel with attached hose that I used to hang off the handlebar. I have to say never lay the bike on the ground when refilling just Lean it to the side
