Just put my engine back together after spending £290 for a cylinder replate and matching new piston. I sent away the cylinder to get measured as the engine was a little rattly and smoking when revved.

But it is still the same, smokes when revved. I would guess its a blue oily smoke rather than a white smoke.

I am using Castrol power 1 fully synthetic 2 stroke oil mixed at 75mil -5litres of fuel.

Any ideas????

if its a 2t Beta the piston has nothing to do with blue smoke, sorry.

 

is the bike using gear box oil, are you having to top it up ?

 

Blue smoke may just be a clogged exhaust or the crankshaft oil seals are gone or the centre gasket is leaking.

 

just check the oil level , run the bike for a couple of hours and check it again. if the oil level is constant in the gearbox then its not burning gearbox oil.

 

 

Gear oil smells awful when burnt,hopefully it's just running rich and needs the carb sorting

Air screw effects low revs only,check the float height and that the jets are standard .Try raising the circlip on the needle to weaken it a bit ,if it improves you know you're going in the right direction.Check the colour of the plug,should be brown,black indicates too rich

So long as its not gearbox oil that is burning and your spark plug is the right colour do not worry about the exhaust smoke. 2 strokes can be expected to smoke although modern fuels and oils have significantly reduced smoke. 4 strokes are not supposed to smoke (with a few specialised exceptions)

Did you check the exhaust for how full of black sludge it is? A exhaust overhaul might solve your problem. Does it get worse when you get it really hot, and ride for some time? Old oil and black smudge will get loose in the exhaust and start to burn away. Riding it really hot will actually make it run cleaner afterwards. Airfilter is good and clean?

 

Its difficult for us to check wether its normal 2t smoke (they are called smokers!) or something is wrong.
