M91 250 Piston Choice?

Featured Replies

Is mahle the weapon of choice? Anybody used a gasgas piston?

If you can get a Mahle piston, that would be great.

A GG piston has the piston ring pegs in the "wrong" location for use on the Bultaco.

In Motion would be able to help with a piston.

Bye, Peter B.

i have bought about 5 MAHLE pistons over the last 2 years i can get them but they are persang pistons need to cut the rear skirt shorter my 340 as a brand new 1 in i do have an original MAHLE piston for a 199A but theres nothing wrong with the After Market pistons ive had them and there good. This is a new piston in a 199b I just rebuilt for some 1

Hi bondy,

Do you have the inlet skirt height dimension for a 325 M199.

From where is the measurement made, the top of the piston ring that is flush with the crown?

Would you have access to the port timing details in relation to degrees before/after top dead centre?

I ask this as someone has modified the ports with a die grinder.

Bye, Peter B.

Sorry I didn't do the work on the piston am sure some 1 will know. I will check the new 325 skirt as this is a spare piston still in the original box.

Hi Peter

Just happened to have a m199 piston handy, it measures 2.500 inches from the top EDGE of the piston to the bottom

of the skirt on the inlet side.

I  have torn down several M199s & for the most part the exhaust side is the same as inlet. ( All have been Mahles) (my personal choice

when available.

Good fortune the Pursang pistons only need the boost port holes added.

Thanks bondy and Larry, that was very quick.

Bye, Peter B.

oh yes the port holes need to be put in as Larry says sory forgot to mention that. the guy that did mine had a special template to drill the port holes in my persang piston witch are perfect.

NOS Mahle pistons are best if you can get one, but I recently obtained a newish one for a M180 and the boss had to be filed out to enable the thrust washers to fit. It also did not have drilled oilways in the bosses but had off square ends instead.
