October 30, 200520 yr Just bought a Rev 3 250 (2002). Drained gearbox and 300 ml came out. Is this normal ? Thought they held 550 ml. ?? What gearbox oil would you recommend to use ? Is the petrol tap "off" when arrow is pointing towards the back of the bike ?? Thanks for reading this and thanks in advance for any advice .
October 30, 200520 yr yes the petrol tap is off when facing backwards im in the same position as you ive only owned my 02 rev3 about 2 weeks James
October 30, 200520 yr was the bike warm when you drained the oil,if it wasnt then the rest is still probably in you bike
October 30, 200520 yr The rev 3 takes 550ml,but this is when gearbox is fully drained ie. after a rebuild.I put about 520 ml in mine at oil changes and always use PJ1 CLUTCH LIGHTENER 75 wt.By the way if the engine was cold it still would not keep 200ml in gearbox.take out drain bolt and leave overnight, and remember to also take out filling cap bolt while draining.put new oil in next day and run bike checking all casing bolts are tight.sometimes these work loose the bottom one on the left near the bashplate is sommetimes the one that works loose i think you can't see it on the early models and have to loosen bashplate to move the rubber to gain access. October 31, 200520 yr Sound advice PRW. Other points about the petrol tap...yep when arrow is pointing to the rear of the bike petrol is OFF....when it points UP petrol is on...and when it points forwards petrol is on reserve. Think there is about 1 litre in reserve
September 26, 20232 yr Thank u so much 4 a definitive answer this matter has been cabbaging my head since I got the rev 3 a couple wks ago an haven't been abe to get a straight answer b4 now.
September 27, 20232 yr All you had to do was verify with the gas line off. But not if you keep the bike in the house!
