March 22, 20179 yr Out of my area of expertise, but a friend of mine is thinking of buying this bike, it's got a Triumph tank on it with what he thinks is a BSA C15 engine but the sellers not sure what to class it as. He asked me knowing I have trials bikes but my knowledge is Spanish Twin shocks so I said I'd ask on his behalf. Can anyone help him out. Thanks lads.
March 22, 20179 yr That could almost be a cut up Sherpa alloy tank/seat unit ... The way the fins are cut on the cylinder makes it look more scrambles orientated as that was more in line with what they did than trials. It's a later engine due to points in the side, not distributor. Check the engine number as it will say what it is, C15, B40 etc in the prefix. If it's C15 and the letters SS or just S follow then it's a sports / scrambles motor which means big valve head and sports cam - not good for trials. It it has F or G it's a road engine which are ok if standard and not messed with. If it's T it's a trials engine but that's going to be unlikely
March 22, 20179 yr Looked at that on Sunday. Crank cases stamped c15s. Barrel looks like mx. Not many fins and square. It's a right bitsa
March 24, 20179 yr Depends on where he plans to ride it. Best to check with the club for eligibility. Probably be ok riding on a no award basis or as a twinshock but definitely not Pre 65. As robido said if its cheap enough though might be worth a punt.
