March 18, 20188 yr Evening all. My 06 4rt unexpectedly almost backfired and kicked back earlier which resulted in the kickstart flying back up and jamming in a more vertical position than usual. I managed to persuade it free by hitting the kickstart with the palm of my hand. The bike started ok but has a slight clicking noise around the mechanism when running. Im assuming the infamous kickstart stop has broken internally. What does this job entail? How do you fix the damage? Is the casing weldable? Thanks
March 18, 20188 yr The usual consequence was the stop retaining bolt being ripped out of the casing as it was only a short bolt. The casing could end up in any degree of a mess. This was all a bit hush hush at the time and Honda did provide replacement engines as presumable it was recognised as a design fault. Mine was replaced. The design fix I belive was fitting a longer bolt. The only other fix is by welding depending on how bad the damage is. If weld repair is possible, if casing bits have gone into the gearbox they obviously can't be left there so stripping and clearing out would be necessary
March 19, 20188 yr Yeah, they're fixable. Do you know al the spanner who worked at whites? He has done plenty in his time. Think he trades under al span now.
