Calling All Works Riders

Lane, Mich, The Beave, (That bugger has more aliases than that cute little girl on that show) keeps talking about all these senior "works" riders so ask you national champion senior folks what does your factory ride get you? Free bikes? Free parts? Free clothes? Gas money to the events? I know none of that, but what do ya get a small percentage off stuff maybe you tell us. Ron what do you give your senior "works" riders? No Jive Clive what do you get?

I think Lane, Mich, The Beave is overestimating this a little bit.

Oh and Johnny Ringo I am watching you :crying:

my Support Class Program is limited :

I offer a discount on a bike..

discount on parts

discount on clothing/helmets etc..

We have a contingency program for class winners (OVERALL SEASON ONLY )

My program differs from the others because I go through the local dealer not AROUND..

I try to Protect my dealers.

The best part of our program We are at the nationals with parts and service for all Beta Riders..

If you need it We have it !!

We help with any technical issues too.. We do not sell you the parts at retail and send you on your way.. we do help you make sure your bike is perfect.. and ready for the competition..

Last year we had 68,000.00 in parts in our trailer we may never use them but we have them with us...!

Hey Doc you are alright. Dont let Lane get your blod pressure up. It is his medication talking. It goes in cycles.

As a Senior 40 Champ this is what I got.

I got to pay my way to the Nationals with my own money.

I got to pay my own entry fees.

Not go to work and lose money.

What I did get was a small break on a new bike. I think the profit margin on a new bike is pretty low to begin with. So I was happy with that.

The Sherco pits treated me like a factory rider. I got free gas for my bike, snacks, and drinks and al the Red Bull I could drink. They brought all of the tools for working on my bike. I got to hang with a great bunch of people who like Trials. I had front brake problems in TN and David Chaves was on it and had it fixed. My hats off to the Sherco Team.

If the Senior riders get so much how come Curt Comer rides an older bike? Not that I want him on a new bike.

I did get a free pit shirt and number plate. I am not there to get free stuff. I am there for fun :crying: , a good time and of course all those groopie girls :P All those girls are really into over 40, married with kids, balding Senior riders. :D

I always have to laugh everytime Lane says the Senior guys get so much sponsership that there is none left over for the Pro guys. :P

Wow a question with a straight answer! Thank you for the insight into what otherwise was speculation. I believe with Ron's post and No Jive's posts it's clear why we ride trials in the US, for fun. There are people with much more experience than I that can tell you countless stories of how Ron, Ryan, David and the list goes on always willing to help to promote sportsmanship. These are the people to tap for information because they are currently involved in the sport. They aren't saying you've got to do this and that if you want trials to thrive. Do we want Trials to thrive and be as big as supercross? I liked showing up a TTC and it not being crowded, being able to walk up to the pits, talking to a rider on the loop. This is why I personally enjoy trials.

What's differnt now is the 17+ classes the NATC runs, back in 76 which I just shared the results for, there was 2 classes. When each top two or three riders in all 17 classes get support from the importer, it all adds up.

We end up with a socialist type sponsorship system, everyone shares in the poverty. We no longer see full factory sponsorships like we did in the 1970s for the top ten Pro riders!

It's amazing that a 40 year old guy like Clive gets any sponsorship at all, what other nation in the world has 40 year old works riders? Let alone dozens and dozens of them!

What more amazing is a 55 year old guy going on and on about the same thing. Over and over again. Crying and crying that the NATC burned him. More than once I have stated you did not attempt a section. Putting your front tire in does not count. It has been a year get over it.

But I will call Ryan and ask for my Works bike. Im pretty sure that my bike is stock. :crying: I did not know that I was a works rider. I am such a dumb ass. My Dad was right. :P

Lane like I have said more than Once show us how it is done. You have a son who is a good rider. You are a good rider. Maybe you could start with something simple and work your way up. Like show up and ride an event.

Clive, how many time do I have to tell you I did attempt some sections at the nationals and pulled a full 10 hour work shift the night between the trials. Along with a huge comute!

You p*** me off when you call me a liar Clive, you were not riding with me, how dare you claim I didn't attempt any sections. You're the liar!

If my entries had not been banned after being accepted for the east coast nationls. I would have attempted a bunch more back east, Only that time I would have been fresh. I didn't attempt more in SoCal because of the tight time scedule to get to work that night. Besides it was hot as he11 and I was really tired the 2nd day from working all night.

It's amazing a 40 year old guy gets sponsorship to the US nationals and an old guy from the 70s beats him "Curt Comer" still today.

Now let's have peace again Clive! Just quit calling me a liar!

And I thought works riders got free practice bikes and payment for riding events , plus all the expensense were paid for out of the factorys pocket.

Sounds to me that our senior works riders are getting the sharp end of the

stick ... I mean It doesn't take much to buy your own bike at cost or so ,

when you know the importer and try to get a new one every year so you can

stay currant and advertise for them... of course you'll get a deal !!!

I think our works riders get a little support from the respective importers

and thats about it I beleive ...

But then beave will prove us all wrong !!!!!

Glenn

And boy food and fuel would be soooo cooool these days.................. :crying:

I just got given a 90 zero to go along with my 240 pro ,

Are parts a big issue for this bike ,my brother who picked it up

in oregon for me says its pretty rough........

And I rode with your son at shooting creek last september and I was

quite impressed with the young man ..........w/more than just his riding

honestly his patience w/a old guy on a old bike that hadn't competed in 30 odd years was impessive , great kid.
