Is there a split link option too?  I like to pull the chain and throw it in the parts cleaner at work when it gets nasty

Split link as usual. Only mentioned the rivet option if your trying various sprocket combos.

I'm thinking of going up a couple of teeth on the front to 14, since at the moment first gear is pointless and the bike can't do more than maybe 25mph flat out (not great between sections on a long trial)

1 tooth may be enough.
