I run a 10/44 with a 520 chain on mine and it is geared very well for. On my spare ty it has 12/35 and it is terrible for trials riding. On my mono it is 12/42

I would say that the seal is gone under the impeller. The weep hole is normally the tell tale sign of the seal gone .

I also fancy something different. I second the 300 Scorpa twenty. Looks like a nice bikefrom pictures.

You can always try sanding it down. I sanded my plastic TY tank down it turned out really well. I started sanding with 120grit fished with wet sanding with 1500grit. Then wax the tank. The whole process took about an hr to hr 1/2

The 06 and 07 had exhaust with 2 outlet ports that came out under the rear fender. The 08 had exhaust that only exited out one port one the side of the rear fender. The 08 also came with white plastics. Not to sure on the carbs. The later 07 came with pumper cars as well. cheers

I believe we spoke at the last VMC trial I was the guy with the Scorpa 250f. The mono forks are better. I am not sure of the Honda OD for the shocks. I have a 76 Ty 250 front end complete with brakes and wheel yokes if you want to try it. It is not for sale but you are welcome to try it. See if you like and then go from there. I have just installed mono forks on my 76 TY project. Brad

Hi am in the process of rebuilding my 1976 ty 250C. I want to change the head bearings from balls to taper bearings with races. Does any one know the part numbers for the bearings and races? Cheers Brad

It is a 76 ty 250. I have installed the ty mono front end on it and was thinking of using the mono swing arm and rear hub. Why to save a little weight and to be different. I am the same as woody I have a mono parts bike kicking around so why not. I have seen a few mono's with twin shocks fitted. So I was thinking of fitting mono parts to the twin shock frame. Save a little weight and still be able to ride in the vintage class hear in Canada.

Has any one fitted a mono swing arm to a twin shock framed bike? I am thinking about this and installing twin shocks on the mono swing arm.

I ride the same area as you on both enduro and trials for the tight single track. I think that the Scorpa would be a little small for a bigger guy. I have a Scorpa 250f and love its well made You could get a big bore kit for the 125. I don't know too much about the Ossa explorer but looks nice articles seem to be good on it. What about parts availability. With the Scorpa all your engine parts will be Yamaha. I know on my Scorpa I keep extra parts around for just in case you can get them but sometimes it takes awhile. I imagine the Ossa would be the same. Both of my boys have rode the ttr 125 and I have had no problems with the engines on both bikes

Don't do it.It is impossible to get the sealer completely coated the tank. The fumes will leach under the coating and bubble your paint. Take the time sand your plastics down start at 100 grit and finish about a 2000 grit. Then wax your tank . This will make a far better job.

You could try Cascade motorsports out of Mission BC Canada. I got a fender from them about a year ago for my 250f. They can still get parts its just a little slow. I would imagine that you already tried BJ racing. I know shed works is producing items for the old ty and tyz fenders maybe they are doing Scorpa items as well.

If your still looking for parts in the USA. Try BJ Racing, or cheap cycle parts.com. You will not find a 84 TY 250 listing on Cheap cycle parts. But for all your suspension parts use the 86 TY 350 listing. I have the same bike but I am in Canada, Most parts are still available from Yamaha. The only difference you should have in the US is sub the 250 for 350. Most gaskets will be the same accept for the base gasket for the barrel and head gasket. You can also try Ty trails out of the UK and Sammy Miller. Sounds like the bike is a little ruff, might as well make a winter project. Also watch out for the front bake hub breaking as they are prone to do. Try and find a hub for a mid 80's IT 250 or 125 and fit it they are way stronger. The TY front brakes are very good when the get wet. They still work but the IT brake hub is the way to go.
