Upon restoration I noticed 2 holes (left and right of brass filters) that had some debris in them. Not to sure if these holes must extend all the way into the cock's chamber. What is their purpose & should they be totally penetrable with a thin wire into a chamber? Mine seem plugged. Thanks

i want to put a set of ty forks on my tlr200 reflex. I found a set of 73 forks from a ty 250. Are these the same as 1980s forks? any good? Thanks

Can anyone recommend where I can get my TY250A engine serviced/checked over - it seemed to run ok before I took it out for re-build but would like someone to give it a service / new points etc before I put it back in the frame. I am located in North Yorkshire England, but happy to travel for the right person.

Hi all Is there a magic formula for getting the primary drive gear nut off on a TY175? I'm trying to replace the crankshaft seal without splitting the engine or removing the barrel etc. I've tried locking the crank via the flywheel but still can't get the nut to loosen off. Any tips or tricks? Is it a left hand thread or anything? Many thanks, Alan

Hi all Apologies for my first post if it's in the wrong section. I am wondering if the crankshaft seals can be replaced on a TY175 with the engine in situ, or is it necessary to split the cases? Any hints or tips would be gratefully received. Alan

evening all, my rebuilt ty 175 engine was chucking out spooge despite sorting out the jetting. However, having burnt out the exhaust for a few hours on an open fire, then cleaning up with caustic soda, then coke (which made it all shiny inside), the spooge has stopped, the plug is a lovely colour and the silencer end is dry. the bike also sounds and runs much better. if in doubt ............................... ...................... burn it out ;-]

I just split the cases on my TY 175. Everything went smoothly except when I finally freed the crank, the right side main bearing came with it. It is stuck right up against the flywheel. So far I've come up with the following bodges: Put the crank in the freezer before re-installing it in the cases. Warm up the cases and refrigerate the crank before re-installing Use a torch on the case before re-installing. I really don't want to destroy the main bearing, it feels perfect, but I don't relish the idea of trying to pound the crank and the main bearing back together...at least not without so heat and/or refrigeration. I have a ty175 and the carb is getting a bit worn, but I have a good ty125 carb, the main jet size is very different, can anyone tel me what size of main I should start with on the 125 carb when fitted to the 175. Cheers Tetly

Hi Just in the process of restoring 1974 TY250A and decided to replace the fork seals, having taken off the circlip and washer at top the slider there is a solid flange that covers the seal making it impossible to access for replacement - have tried all methods to remove it but it won't budge and seems to be weldTY250 Fork Seal.pdfTY250 Fork Seal.pdfed in [please see photo] - any guidance will be appreciated, thanks David

Today I purchased an old and unloved TY175 from a friend. He's had the bike about 18 years and back when we were young and stupid we used to ride it around his field, and occasionally on the back roads near his home. It was taken apart about 12 years ago by him and was left in the same spot until now. Its going to take me lot of time, and money but I'm hoping to get this bike looking great again and hopefully do a couple of trials on it. I'm unsure on whether to restore, modify to majesty frame or make a modern twinshock with discs at the moment but its not something I'll be rushing into just yet.

hi guys (and gals..). am having problems with my beloved ty250 mono..only had it 3months, started having starting problems, just wouldn't settle down to a happy idle, just wanted to die..even after fine tuning idle/air screw whilst bike was warm. there is a spark and fuel is evident on plug. I have taken carb off and now (due to inexperience) haven't put it back together correctly..am having throttle issues.no resistance in throttle cable now, I no ill have to sort that but any other ideas for lack of starting/idling...is it fuel mix(50:1) is it carb? seems ok. although I haven't fully cleaned it out yet. Hi i have the chance of an alloy kickstart off a Yz /Wr 250 1995 model does anybody know if this will fit my Ty mono please,the guy says it looks like it has 32 splines for the fitment onto shaft.Ay help would be helpfull. Thanks.
