I have had the bike for 25 years it was completely striped 24 years ago ready for a rebuild, when Mick Andrews visiting the engineering firm I work at saw the bike and confirmed that it had been one of his bikes. Can anyone tell me the correct length of spoke to lace a tubeless rim to my spare TY hub, have a spare wheel and just tried a quick rough build with ten spokes and they are slightly too long, just wondered if anyone that has done it has the correct measurement to hand, if not will have to take it to a wheel builder. thanks

I have two TY175's of similar vintage, one runs perfectly with crisp throttle response an plenty of low down power. The other only has power at high revs and feels like it has an elastic band between the twist grip and carb. The barrel is not marked and they have similar compression. Same fly wheel I have replaced; all the ignition system, new points, condenser, coil, plug. Timing set the same on both bikes, and I've done it 5 times to make sure. reeds to fiber and they have the same opening on the petals (9mm). (came with petals from an 50/80 with 7mm opening). I was given (borrowing) a TY80 for my kids to use. I pulled it out of a storage shed and glaring at me are very poor condition, rusted fork sliders. I did a quick look on ebay and did not see anything. This led me to wonder if any of the other small, 80cc Yamahas of that era might share the same forks or sliders that would work for this bike. Before I start looking up part numbers in the old online Yamaha parts catalog I thought I would see if anyone out there has come across this information. Thanks,

Can anyone give me details on a tubeless rim that fits a standard TY mono set yp i.e with Z spokes. I am worried about rim piercing giving an incorrect spoke angle. Thanks

Hello can anybody tell me if the main engine casings from a 1974 ty250 will match up to a 1978 motor. The left main casing on mine has been attacked by some eejit and is full of holes around the magneto. All I can find are listed as 1974 models. Would like to keep the numbers matching! So I have been experimenting with different fork spacers, stock vs different shorter ones as I weigh only 150lbs. The stock spacers are great for drops etc. but I find softening the fork action with shorter spacers makes the front deflect less and soak up bumps a lot better. Also been playing a lot with handlebar rotation and found that the further forward I rotate, the lighter the steering becomes to the point that I am fighting the wheel to not turn so easily. I notice that a lot of TY's have the bars quite far forward. What are your findings and opinions on this? I have Falcons on the back with the top mounts dropped forward 4 inches. Hi, I bought a ty twin back in 1994 when I was 14. The last time I had it out it cut out and never started again (almost 10 years ago). I'm going to buy a starter tune up kit etc for it and try to get it going. It's been sitting in a dry shed the whole time so I don't think it'll be seized. What should my procedure be? Spray wd40 into cylinder? Also want to change gearbox oil, but which oil do I use? It was a 1986 'C' registered bike and I've been telling people for almost 20 years that it was a 1986 twinshock, but that's surely incorrect??!! Hello, I bought this bike about a year ago to ride in Trials competition. Instead of just restoring it back to original condition, I wanted something that looked a little different, and this is my end result. I haven't touched the wheels yet, but I think I'm going to polish the hubs, anodize the rims black, and lace them up with stainless spokes and nipples. hello!!! can anyone tell me the year of my 80s ty 250 mono the chassis and frame number is 59n 000166 all the sites iv visited dont list this one , they show 59n 000101 HELP!!!!!!

Just changed condensor and moved to under tank,still no spark all joints soldered and fresh wire. Ive not changed the points could it be those? There seems to be no current from the stator area at all I checked for voltage with a multi-meter. Does these windings fail ie like my beta one? Any Ideas more than welcome or any willing volunteers to come and have a look Lytham st annes area.

Hi gents, I am new to the forum and this is my 1st post. It looks as if this place will be great for info for me over the coming months! I have just started a strip and rebuild of a ty175 I have owned for about 20years! It has stood for approx 10 of them! It is in surprisingly good condition, the 1st problem I have and question I could do with answering is what thread is the spindle that runs through the swing arm? The threads have stripped from the nut. This will probably be the first of many so thanks in advance! Andy.

Hello purchased a rather snotty looking 77 ty250 last week up in Nova Scotia, Canada. Have started the tear down process and it has been coming apart amazing well. Have the motor and everything but the headstock off the frame as of now. Just the two bolts for the rear fender snapped into the frame. It seems to be all there parts wise, should clean-up well. Wondering on just the usual stuff that should be looked into that has proven to be problematic through the years? Suggestions for parts in Canada? I just thought that I would share the fantastic customer service I have received from Sammy Miller. I have a 1974 TY 250 which I am doing up and it requires a new seat (the existing metal pan is 100% rust.) I ordered a new one from Sammy Miller’s which when it arrived did not fit as it is for the later models which do not have a fiberglass seat surround. However, it was not a million miles out and I was sure that if I took it to bits I could modifiy it by taking off the lip and repositioning the holes. First though thought I would talk to them to see if they had a different seat. They didn’t but sent me a blank seat base which I then modified and drilled the holes and…

New to this forum.... and need some help please?!! Bought a Ty175 a few months ago that has stood for 15 years un-used. Rebuilt the carb, fresh fuel and new plug and she fired up first kick!! Well chuffed! Had a problem with dirt in the fuel, so have Pet-Sealed the tank and now have very clean fuel. Bike still starts great, but when I select first gear and pull away, she starts to die?? If I slip the clutch and keep the revs up, she will keep going and she will eventually burst into life?!! That's OK, but have tried her off road, and it is very hard to control like this?? Hi, I have a problem with getting the timing right. It was running then i changed points and condensor it ran again. All i have done now is change the plug cap for an ngk one. now its still sparking but wont start. Fuel fine I have tried adjusting points but find it really hard through the little flywheel hole. Any Ideas????
