I have a TY250 (Yamaha Trials) -1974 that is in great shape. It starts up fine, revs, as well as idles just fine. When I place in gear and accelerate it bogs down. It's like it's choking for fuel. I can hold the choke down and this helps a bit, but eventually dies. Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this. I've been through the fuel system about three times already. Taking all advice as would like to get this thing up into the hills and start riding the ridges... thanks for any help you can provide..

hello all, I have just bought a ty 175 for twinshock trials with the local club. after some shed time and research time, the bike has the following faults: * autolube has been removed, leaving the autolube pipe unplugged and hanging off the carb * exhaust baffle had been squashed closed in a vice * a piece of sponge as an air filter * blow by on the piston when viewed from the exhaust port * although it did run ok, the bike refuses to idle unless the choke is on / idle screw removed and hole blocked with finger * what appeard to be play on brake side rear wheel bearing, but was play between brake drum and wheel. I have * plugged intake for autolube pipe * opene…

I've got my TY250C coming apart for main bearings, seals & a rebore to 1st oversize & want to know is there any way to improve the action of the clutch while the engine is in bits. The basket & hub are in good shape but I found the clutch to have very narrow range of engagement almost like a lightswitch which is a problem when making full lock 180deg turns as found in modern clubmans sections Levers are domino trials & the cable is a new venhill, action is quite light so I don't see any problem there Any suggestions or is this how they are?

Hi, I' am rebuilding my twinshock TY, this is a long time project, whenever I have time I do something for the bike .... Anyway the airbox of the TY 125 / 175 is very tiny it has more likely the size of a can of sprats then a airbox for a 175 to 200cc motor. A larger one should improve power output. Can any one tell me where I may get a larger capacity airbox for my TY, also some stories / how to ... for custom made air boxes would be very nice too. Many Thanks Patrik

I,m pretty sure that I have read that a Majesty tank will not fit on a stock TY.Why is that the case? Is there any way to make it fit or does it take extensive frame mods to do so?
