hi currently running my ty175 at 50-1 on good quality castrol 2t fully synthetic oil just think it smokes a bit to much been reading forums and people are saying anything from 50-1 to 100-1 with a good quality full synthetic 2t oil. any suggestions of a good ratio mix bike only rode off road any help greatly appreciated as neighbours dont like the smoke would it be ok at 70-1 with castrol fully synthetic oil cheers guys

my 250 t/shock wont start i fitted a new carb and it wouldnt run right. i have put the old carb back on now it wont start.it gets fuel and gets a good spark carb has been cleaned out.

Is there parts avalable to rebuld a TYZ motor ( rod, pin, piston etc. ) Guy

Hi guys ,can I have advice my stock ty175 motor seems flat and fed up of resetting the points ect and I've thought of buying a set of boysen reads lifting the flywheel electronic ignition I want to up the compression slightly I've heard you can purchase a thinner was gasket but I'm not sure which one and where to get it from other option was to skim head but how much should I skim and finish te bike of with a wes system exhaust would I gain from them mods to make the Bike More responsive and better to ride ?

Hi i have recently purchased a 76 TY250 sadly the gear selector splined shaft has been welded to keep the gear lever on. Would anyone know if a same year DT250 shaft is the same ?. Thank you

hi new to the twinshock bikes wondering could any one tell me the recommended tyre preasure for ty175 rear tyre riding conditions mud tree stumps roots and some flat rocks im 14 1/2 stone and really unsure whats the best peasure for these conditions where i ride has also alot of slippery greenery any advice appreciated regards

The LT coil on my TY comprises two coils mounted together, one above the other, this one being a lot smaller than the other. The manual shows only the larger one and this seems to match what I have seen advertised as a source coil. Has someone perhaps modified mine or is the standard setup different to what is shown in the manual?

I modified last year a TY TS ( raised the motor and inclined the shock ) . When I took it apart to stoire it I noticed that the chain now sometime drag on the swingarm, so I looked at some pictures of Majesty and they seem to have some sort of guizmo to prevent that. Does anybody have a pictrue of thing. Guy

hi can any tell me the exzact diameter of a ty gear shaft the one the lever fits on cant measure mine as its not with me i want to have a play and see if i can adapt linkage cover and add my own turned bronze bush any replies appreciated cheers

hi guys i have oil leak from external oil seal on gear shaft i need toemov replace internal too but no idea how ? do i have to strip engine or can i access from removing left hand cover is it a big job any help appreciated thanks

Can I fit a later model (76-77) seat and fender on my 1974 TY250 ? My seat base is pretty beat up and I like the look of the later ones.

I have recently purchased a 1974 Yamaha TY 250 in quite good nick but requiring some TLC amongst the things to be addressed is the rubber hose between the standard air filter and the carburettor is missing ( part number 4341 4453 0000) and unfortunately no longer available. Has anyone got any experience of using an aftermarket Air filter set up or has any suggestions for an alternative pipe? I would appreciate any help or comments

Hello, I'm new to this and I posted this in the wrong place, so i'll try again. I have just bought an'85 TY250 mono and when the engine is warm either on overrun or light load, you know how they only fire or pop erratically well each time it "pops" there is a loud metallic knock. Is this normal because I thought something was going to let go! Any help would be much appreciated, thanks Mike.

Is there a good way to clean/flush the mid section on my TY250A ? It seems pretty mucked up and I thought about trying to flush it with diesel fuel.I don,t know if there is any packing material in there that might get ruined by anything I might use to flush it with.If so,then is like a Sherpa exhaust where you have to cut it open to properly do the job?

I took the front end on the TY apart to clean and grease and I,m having some trouble reassembling it.I tighten the spanner nut on the steering stem just enough to feel no back and forth movement.Then I tighten the bolt on top of the top triple clamp that threads into the stem and it tightens up to where it will not turn freely.I tried to just snug the top bolt and it still does it.If I back off the stem spanner nut enough that it doesn,t bind then I have back and forth movement.What am I doing wrong?

Does anyone know. Can I take my 1986 Yamaha TY350 cylinder and have it bored out. And then use it without new chrome? Is the material under the chrome hard enough to run a piston in? Alternately. Will a TY250 top end fit on the TY350 block? Thanks.

i tried my keihin carbom my 300 Gas Gas on my yamaha and was surprised it ran ok i bought another carb from ebay, what jets do i need to get it to run well mains currently 118 idle 35 any ideas

Heres a long shot. I've got a TY250 mono fitted with drum brakes and the front brake plate has been changed to one that has the brake arm outside not inside like the std TY250 mono. I dimly remember back in the 80's a popular mod before disc brakes was to fit i think a brake plate off a YZ125 which might be what this has. I need to order some new brake shoes but everybody wants to know what it's off and i'm not sure nor do i know the year however the shoes on it which need replaceing are OEM Yamaha and are stamped 322-00 ASK 1037 SR2FF so does anybody have access to a cross reference for EBC or Newfren so i can order some new shoes. Tried Yamaha UK but without the model…
