Hi all, yamaha ty 80 451-106347 I have just aquired a ty80, and she needs quite a lot of tlc. where is the best place to get replacement parts? i need the usual stuff kick start shaft plastics etc? I would also like to try and find out what year the bike is, the engine and frame numbers match and is 451-106347. Thanks in advance steve

Hey anyone out there got info on how to convert a 175 to 200? i've been told there could be a couple of ways? I've access to a machine shop,just need to know the best way and what parts to use.Cheers.Pat

Hi all, Will ask if you do know if some one offers cylinder head nuts for TY175 in alloy? (like Greeves..:-) Have anyone of ever seen a TY175/DT175 or 125 head with eye for frame bracket? eg. like TYS.. Have read about rebuilding of classic street bikes..where re-Zn of fasteners has been done, will kindly ask if any of you can recommend a company who provide this threatment of fasteners? BR, Pat

Hi guys. Bear with me as I'm new to forums and probably not the sharpest tool in the shed! I have a TY250 mono (1987) with plastic tank. As you all know (as do I now!) plastic tanks can't be painted without blistering at a later date; so my question is ..... what other TY tank (steel/alloy) if any, will also fit the mono? Is it a straight swap or are mods needed? Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

Am i wrong but is a TY250 twin shock tank made of alloy? Im only asking as i have a TY175 with a dented steel tank and i need to get another so IF a TY250 is alloy and IF it fits and IF its lighter then this could be a good idea? Am I wrong? Also, do rock shock rear shocks have a locking ring at the top to stock the adjuster turning in use? mine hasn't? Thanks Owen

Ive got a ty250 mono and it is leaking gearbox oil threw the clutch cover, I have replaced the gasket but the thread in the crank case for one of the lower clutch cover blolts is stripped, is there anything I could do to fix this? Cheers Lewis

I want to get a flywheel puller for my ty250a. I believe it is a 27mmx1.0 left hand external thread but not for sure. Ty250 specific pullers seem to be priced 2-3 times more than any with the same threads for for example a mx, dt etc. Thanks for any input

I struggle to start my sisters ty80 from cold it takes about 15 min to start. Once started it will start from hot really easly (even my little sister can start it). after it has warmed up it starts to rev realy high (about 20 min after start) so i have to run for my screwdriver and adjust the carb. I have recentley changed the coil and cleaned out the carb but this does not help much more. Once the bike is running every thing is fine but i just cannot work out why it stuggles to start from cold it cant be because it is not started that often as the bike is reguarly used and if not used weekley it is normaly started just to warm it up. Does anyone know what the poblem m…

Would any of you Yamaha guys have any or be able to take some close up pictures of how your upper shock mount has been moved forward. Have a ty 175 and was told that the Falcon shocks are very good, any thoughts about these shocks compared to others such as Rockshock

Hi all what spark plug is best for a ty80. I have been using ngk b6hs and evan tried a iradium one! As anyone messed around with plug heat ranges and different makes?

I'm also looking for a source coil for my TY and wondering if one from another model will work ? maybe an earlier model ? (mine is an 84 ) or maybe a source coil from a DT or an IT any idea's ...? thanks

Just got a pinky yam its had new piston ,rings,main bearings and seals.It has also just had new clutch plates and a new talon basket bolted on. It make a funny grumbling noise when put in gear especially on clutch bite also still makes it when clutch fully out and riding around. the noise is faint when in nuetral and clutch lever is operated in and out but dissapears when just sat in neutral with lever left alone, could the bearing in the basket or cog on the back cause this or something more major any ideas appreciated before i rip her to bits

Hi I am new to trials but I am going to trial a TY175, it has standard gearing [13-51] is this a good setup or should I change it?

Hi - I would like to try another source coil on my TY250 to see if it cures my starting woes (The resistance is reading 180 ohms instead of 240) Does anyone happen to know if another model of source coil would fit or does it have to be the exact one Its got a lighting coil fitted which I dont use..would this be worth trying ? Or would the source coil from a TY250 twinshock do Any suggestions much appreciated

Afternoon Ive been trying to date a Ty80, but im having no luck with it as most yamaha databases are asking for 17 digit serial and the 9 digit ones a pretty vague 451-104... 451 - ty80 a(b ) 104024 - no idea how to get a date out of that Any help welcomed. Cheers John
