Hi, TY175 pipe/frame questions..which might need to be explained by pics.. Will kindly ask about the measurement at pipe 180dg bend, centre of pipe at exhaust port to LH side of pipe wall after the bend, is it ruffly 70mm (room for RH down tube)? TY175 down tubes at position height ~centre of cylinder exhaust port, is the width from LH side to RH side of down tubes ~140mm? Im using a Cota242 frame and trying to avoid one off pipe.. BR,

It would appear I didn't post the successful rebuild of our TY80 engine after some problems discovered, so here it is: Just to recap, a year ago we acquired a TY80 that had a recent rebuild but suffered from a gear-change problem – up changes fine but down changes very unreliable. It also rattled more than I would have expected from a rebuilt engine… So easy job first and check the clutch mechanism and general condition under the LH case: All good, so take off the RH case and clutch to check the gear-change mechanism: Note the fantastic homemade clutch holding tool that came with the bike. The gear-change mechanism has nothing obviously wrong but I notice the …

Has anyone fitted "Magicals" progressive fork springs to their TY250? If so what difference did they make? I'm 105kg would they be of any benefit? Same questions apply to the "Magicals" adjustable fork caps? The modded damper tubes are way beyond my budget but if anyone has any comment on them I'd be interested. Or should I just throw heavier fork oil in? Thanks in advance for your input.

As I simply can't get myself to fork our the 200+ dollars for a new kick start on my TY 175 I have to ask the question - what are my alternatives??? Will any newer model kick starts fit, say something from a newer bike, different manufacturer etc? How about from the TY80? The TY80 kick start look much stronger, albeit a little shorter, and they are cheaper and readily available (at the moment at least). The TY 175 looks (and was) kinda weak... Anyone??

Has anyone any idea if there is another model of Yamaha clutch that can be adapted to fit the TY 175, mine has wear notches and am struggling to get a replacement in good condition, bought one off flea bay and it was worse than exisiting clutch (advertised as in great ?? condition) I know that the gear can be removed and rivetted to a new basket but dont know if anyone has found aything that fits or have had succes with somehow repairing wear notches on exisiting parts. also if anyone knows where I can get some frame mods done local to Leeds (I want to steepen steering head angle but not that good with small gauge welding and not really got the right gear, I am fitting l…

Hi all, Will kindly ask those of you who has converted TYR front brake by YZ plate, does std TYR brake cable fit spot on, except for the nipple size to shield lever. It looks like the YZ lever position require a tiny bit longer cable vs TYR std..I do not have any TYR cable. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Have tried to order a TYR stem bottom bearing seal from Cane for 3 months now, any suggestion of other suppliers who offers these odd seals, please.. Did order this part ok, for an other rebuild last year... BR,

Whilst fitting a new kickstart shaft I noticed a bit of circumferential play between the clutch drum and the primary drive gear. Has anyone experienced this and can I get away with just peening the rivets to tighten things up, though I take it some holes will have elongated. Thanks

I am looking at a ty175 for my boy. The bike seems to run ok but the shifter shaft has alot of side to side movement. How big of a deal is this? Is it an easy fix? Is this a common problem with ty175's?

My new project is a 74 TY 250. I thought the skid plate on it was one of the fiberglass/plastic stock ones but when I took it off it turned out to be a cast aluminum one. I have saw stamped alloy ones but never cast. It has some embossed lettering that says J & M PLATES with Yamaha under that. Have any of you TY gurus seen these?

It would appear that my previous post of the same title was removed becasue I placed a link to an ebay auction which is against the rules of the forum. However this was not my ebay auction and I was only posting the link in order to show the colourway of the bike to try and establish the year and any other associated details of the bike. So instead, I've placed the picture instead (please note this is not my bike, but is an accurate representation of how it looks...albeit considerably cleaner). Many thanks for all of your previous comments and help. Maybe I should rstore it myself as a project?
