Hello Everyone. New here. Now It's probably a stupid way to start my time here. But to me it's a valid question. I don't mean as in race. I mean which bike would you prefer and do you have experience on both bikes. Why I hear you ask? Well I'll tell you. My mates and I are competing in the Vintage Twinshock trials this year. In Aus. I jumped in first and bought a Italjet 350T. 1983 I think. It's greeen anyway. And heavy. 101 Kg's. My mate bought a Sherpa T 1976 250 first. When he rode my bike he liked the low down grunt. He has now bought a 1981 Sherpa T 350. A blue one. Now it weigh's 93 Kg's. I like my bike don't get me wrong. But when I rode the Sherpa T wow …

Is it normal for the clutch to drag on a Montesa Cota 200 as no amount of adjusting seems to cure it.

hi there my mate has just bought a montesa 348 i think its a 1976 model. it was running fine until he noticed some fuel weeping from the idle screw so he thought it would be a good idea to nip it up!!!!! he also tightened the mixture screw aswell. now the bike wont start, it turned over when i tried bumping it but it just chugged for a second then died. if anyone knows how many turns out the screws should be, i guess that it will be different from factory due to age and wear but if i could get it somewhere near i can fine tune it from there. thanks in advance. d tomlinson.

Should Twin Shock events have sections in a traditional style or should we join the hip-hop crowd?

My Montesa Cota 348 (1978) has allways worked fine without any problems until yesterday but now there's something wrong with the intake. The carb is Amal 2627, and I haven't done any changes to the standard jets and settings. The engine works poorly with low rpm's and I can't find good idling with low enough rpm's. I can set the throttle top screw so that the engine revolution at idling is high but can't get my target speed for idling. The engine will stop when I lower the rpm's. Ofcourse I've tried to turn the air screw left and right but without succes. When I turn the throttle grip at no-load operation the engine revolution increases normally but when turning the gr…

Hello Yesterday i purchased a Montesa 200 but the engine appears to be a lot bigger than a 200,is there any way to identify the engine size? How do i set up the carb for correct running? I will attempt to post some pictures tonight for your perusal as the bike is in very good condition for a 25 year old trials bike Thanks Mark

What's this? Is it homemade? Worth of getting? Is it meant to modify the standard glass fiber tank and use it only as a cover (and seat)? I see that a glass fiber fuel tank is a weak point on 348, am I right? http://cgi.ebay.es/MONTESA-COTA-348-INNER-...p3286.m63.l1177

I have so short fingers that I have difficulties to reach the standard Amal levers on my Cota 348. Anyone has adjustable clutch and brake levers on twinshock trials bike? Your opinions and experiences? Are those ones too modern on a twinshock trials bike? Surely have to buy or make new cables?

For some reason I'm not able to use the rear brake of my 348 (1978), I think the lever is somehow unsuitable for me. What's wrong with me - or with the lever? Can I get a better one or is the only way to do it myself? Anybody else has the same problem? Or is it just me...

I have changed the carb on my Montesa 123 for a Mikuni with a main jet of 190. The exhaust is now leaking black oily gunge, is this because the jet is too big or is it something else. The plug is a NGK B6ES. Cheers John

Can anyone help me with identifying an OSSA basket case i recently purchased. The frame No is B-700029 and all the identification charts i have seen start with B-71**** Its has a black frame with the brake pedal on the right/cable on the left, and the swinging arm spindle slots are enclosed. I have been told it could be a TR77 Verde but also been told its a MAR , Plonker . If anyone got any ideas it would be appreciated.

Does anyone know the origins of this swinging arm? I think its an aftermarket item as it weighs a lot less than a standard mk1 and mk2 mar swinging arm, is brazed instead of welded and is approx 60mm longer than a standard swinging arm Its currently on my '76 mar but cant find a photo of another bike with one
