This is my idea of home improvement, a bit of bike tinkering in yer spare room!

I went to an ACU training day today for National CofC and Stewards, run by John Collins. I've not met John before, but he was a breath of fresh air. The ACU get a good slagging whenever the opportunity arises (sometimes unfairly), so I thought I'd try and balance the books a little. Probably the first person I've met from the ACU who I would be happy to have represent me at any ACU meeting. It's good to know that someone with such a grip of reality is involved at the higher levels within the ACU. Decided to try a trials bike to use for trail riding after selling many conventional trail/mx bikes. I was sick of wrestling bulky over-engineered bikes in the tight woods that i like to ride. After one ride, im hooked. I cant understand why more people havn't caught on. Have to up the tyer pressure to save the rims with trials tyers, at the cost of traction. Might be better off with nobbies in the forrests, No?

Hey all Sorry to do this but I feel it is necessary. I my personal opinion i would not bid on the following item as it is a dog and not worth what you would pay. My dad won the bike and went to have a look at it in Manchester, losing a days work and found the bike was not anywhere near as advertised. It had the following faults. The bearings in swing arm and wheels gone. The Fan comes on when started and the engine rattles like a food blender The front fork seal are shot. I recently px'd a TLR 250 for an RTL. Went to Honda Classic Dating to get an age confirmation based on the VIN tag (fitted to the headstock with tamper proof rivets). The DVLA wanted a photo of the "stamped VIN number". Has anyone found such a number or could advise me where to look? The VIN on the plate is not acceptable Any help much appreciated. Thanks Andy. Whats up with these bikes? Thinking about a trials bike to knock around on and help improve my trail riding skillz!! My main ride is a gas gas DE 300. My brother has an 90 Aprilia Climber. 240 he thinks but not sure. It has very little use. He got it used to knock around on and hasn't played with it in 10 yrs. He said it needs the front forks serviced and rebuilt, rear shock serviced and an air filter. Other than that he said it runs fine. Would this be a good bike for a noob to knock around on. Hi, After selling my gg i”m have a race van built for myself, but now I have no bike at mo I need to get a van garage size to fit bike in! can anyone post the overall length of bike (front wheel to rear) and total height to top of handlebars please? TIA, Ian

Hey all, so new trials rider here, but an average enduro rider you can say. Nothng special. I did trials for a bit, but stopped, then now started again. Probably 3 months of trials riding all together. Mostly learning to get over "trail obstacles" I know nothing of fundamentals, learning static balancing Not sure if I should just stick to this older 300 and all I need to progress, or soon enough I should look for a new trials. My biggest thing is E start haha. Sometimes I get into some nasty terrain to play in and makes it difficult to kick start due to the pitch Not sure if 125, 200 or 250... 2 stroke 4 stroke etc

Hi guys i'm buying a Fantic 240 but have a concern with kicking it up or lack of. Has anyone drilled and tapped the head to fit a universal decompressor kit or is their a certain technique people use? TIA

Some of the spokes on my GasGas sound loose when i tap them with a screwdriver. Can i just tighten the loose ones or should i take the wheels to an expert ? Tia,

My son is 12 years old, almost 13. He is 4 feet 10 inches and around 75 pounds. He is small-framed but reasonably athletic. Plays soccer. He's been riding a clutched CRF80 for a couple of years and is a pretty good bicycle trials rider. I ride trials and have a GasGas 300. We are looking for a trials motorcycle for him and would like to get the correct machine. I have come across a 2003 GasGas80 for a good price. I haven't seen this bike and don't know anything about it but I think it is a full-size machine, in which case it is the same size as my 300Pro. Taken all the old wadding out of my middle box and re-opened the perforated holes in the inner pipe (they were all coked up - essentially making it a straight through!!) anyway, my question is this:- When I get the new wadding, how densely do I shove it in?? To my mind if I do it too dense, then the cases/sound won't penetrate into it. My concern is the stuff that came out seemed quite densely wedged in ... perhaps that is just where it was all stuck together coz of the 2stroke/coke? Is there any advantage to just putting it in like you would say hamster bedding?

All the back and forth about rules, classes , section difficulty, the list goes on, are we ever going to get back to just worrying about cleaning the next section?. Ask twenty people if they want Stop or no stop, what classes or lines they prefer in an event and you get twenty different answers, and when changes are made the one who is stuck applying said changes is the volunteer who only does this work because they love the sport.
