Got the Trials bug at the tender age of 43 when a pal donated a Fantic 301. Building a Triumph 3ta special and recently aquired a Montesa 349 Cota in rather good nick for sensible money. Cheers Bill

How do, Just got myself a trials iron after doing my first and only trial at the start of the year one snowy day in Jan. I've dabbled in off-road bike sport a fair bit, mainly enduros and lot's of mucking about riding with mates and have always wanted a trials bike. A ty250 mono came up and a deal was done in the way of a swap with a dtr 125 which I had been hoarding. I gave the mono a good service including a change of fuel and oil and then rode it 4 - 5 times on the trot with the only work being replaceing a broken lever Forgot to loosen them up, they'd been done up tight on the bars so snapped at the first off (there have been many since)Just washed it today and noti…

Hi, just joined, used to do schoolboy trials in the 70's and thinking about getting back into trials, so you know roughly how far over the hill I am :-)...... It seems the technology has changed a lot with the bikes, I think the new bikes look like they may be easier to ride than the twin shocks I used to ride (TY175) so looking around for a Beta, Gas Gas etc. I remember my old TY175 had an oil pump for the 2 stroke lube, wondered if this is still a standard feature on the modern 2 stroke bikes, or do we have to try and work out 20 part's to one ratio ? Anyway, if I get a bike, you will know it's me as I will probably be the one on the deck every 5 mins .... Hope to …

Morning all! Last Friday I purchased myself a 2004 Sherco 290! From a local lad down the road @ Bishop. Then spent the weekend riding down near Croft!...Didn't think it was going to be as good as what my mates were making out etc, but absolutely LOVED it! Even compared to Motocross, Fast Cars etc...at least with this their is places you can go no bother, and have a good time with out any hassle from police etc etc! Cant wait for this weekend to be honest, by last Sunday I was already getting a feeling for the bike, getting over my first rock, on and off pallets etc some big hills and a few jumps here and their, GOOD FUN!...first time on a trials bike, apart from my firs…

hello, all! I've just acquired a 95 Fantic 249 Section, it was unwanted and given to a friend. He didn't want it either(non-running), so I traded him some work on another bike for it. After a simple carb-clean and some fresh gas, it runs again! Woohoo! I've always wanted a modern trials bike-I've also got a TL 250 in the fleet-now I'm eager to start riding it. Naturally, I've got no information on parts resources or service info on this bike, so I started exploring the internet & wound up here. I'll post some questions in the Fantic section, hopefully the answers will pour in. I'm located in reno, nevada, usa. It's high desert country, with easy access to the Sie…

Hello everyone, thank god i've found what looks to be a good forum! No better place to learn in the beginning I'm a former bike trials rider, when i rode for about 5 or 6 years from 2000. Ended up riding for Monty/Cleanbikes, Plazmatic and Heatsinkbikes.com, so i may well know some of you guys??? I'm on www.Trials-forum.co.uk as Bongo too. I ended up getting into bmx, which took over my life, and i rode bmx until a series of knee injuries put an end to that, and during my recovery from some operations, i bought a road bike, which soon put me onto the track, and for the last couple of years i've raced a Honda CBR600rr in the Hottrax National 600 endurance, and severa…

Hello all, My name is Nick, I live in Bulgaria and I've been riding on the road for 30+ years. I don't intend to compete but I'm looking for an older trials bike ( TY250, Beta TR34/35 or? ) and I would love to have advice from anyone who can steer me in the right direction. I started a post under the Yamaha section entitled TY250 lighting coil but perhaps I should have started here first as my questions are really broader than just that. I see that you are all friendly, helpful folk so if anyone can be bothered to cross ref my first post I would be very grateful. Thank you for your attention. Nick.

Hi Gents, New chum here. More or less new to trials. Was into MX back in the day, then VMX. Needing something a little more sedate lately but no less interesting. Have background in spanish bikes, but Feetupfun recently gave me a taste of a range of twinshock trials bikes incl TYs & KT. Loved every minute of it. Thanks Dave, yr a great ambassador for the sport!

New to the sport. i havn.t even got myself into a club yet.The reason for this is because, like a fool i bought a gas gas 330cc of ebay which was meant to be in very good condition. With me not knowing anything about trials bikes i brought it home. It run quite well but there seems to be an oil leak comeing from somewhere, its clean oil. Can anyone give any advise so i get up and running and join a club. cheers.

Hi all New to this forum. I have been riding trials since 1971. I live in New Mexico USA. I currently ride a 2009 BETA EVO 290. This is an awesome bike. I may have to fire my sponsored rider as he cannot ride for s**t. He does enjoy the ridding and the people. Have a good day all.

Hey everybody! I'm a semi-pro Sportbike Freestyle rider who's looking for a new chalenge! I've been intrigued by Trials for years, and I want to buy my first Trials bike. I have really good throttle and brake control compared to most novice trials riders due to my experience with Sportbike Freestyle and I'm wondering which bike I should start on. There's a 1993 Gas Gas GT12 and a 1992 Gas Gas GT32 for sale somewhat close by. They're both priced at $1200 (thought I'm sure I can talk them down.) Which one would be a better starter bike for someone such as myself? I'm not a big guy (5'10", 180lbs) but like I said I think I would take to this pretty quickly due to my experi…

Hi folks, I have done trials competition in the 80's, (from 1981 to 1988). Then I had a "trialsbreak", while studying and working, .... Now will strat again, do have my very first "real or bigger" Trialsbike left, a Yamaha TY 125, still there could not trade it away all the years because ther where to many good memorys together with the bike. As a real trialsplonker I could get my hands on a bultaco Sherpa 340 in pretty original condition. Both bikes I will rebuild to use at vintage trial competitions and just for playing around, (now with an age of 46 I never will get a master of trials somwhere it's not my intentetion to do so). For the Bultaco I have to some repairs…
