Hi Everyone, I am returning to trials after a 30 year (almost) break. Can't wait to buy a decent bike and get out there. (I am tired of watching my children enjoy themselves on their bikes.)

Hi, Congratulations on a great site, loads of information. I'm about to buy my first trials bike after many years of riding sportsbikes on the road. I'm too aware of my own mortality these days It's been 25 years since I rode my mates sherpa and I'm looking for something older to start on. I'm leaning toward a TY250 mono at the moment but have the chance of a 1991 Cota 310. Any advice on which would be best to start on or possible other options? Cheers.

Hi - just picked up a 'barn find' TY175 with intent to have some fun tinkering and with a vague idea of refurbing and having a go at twinshock trials. I got given it by a work colleague and have been told its never been road registered. The engine and frame numbers match, frame and tank are badly corroded, engine has compression but I've not tried starting it as I want to strip it down and clean it / check it over first. I'll post up some before pics as well as any progress updates. I'll also be posting up queries so any advice gratefully received. Thanks, Mark

Hi All, As the title says, I've just bought a 315r & this seems like a good place for info & advice, I haven't even ridden it properly yet as it's stood a while & I want to change the fluids & check it over first, also I must contact the guy I bought it off as he's forgotten to give me the seat I had a ancient Bultaco 250 Sherpa T 20 odd years ago followed by a Fantic 303, but haven't thrown a leg over a trials bike for about 12 years, I only ever used them for fun & am totally useless, but that'll all change, the 315r being a more modern mount will have me riding like a pro.........or maybe not. noMates. (Montesa, geddit!)

I'm hoping that someone on this forum can help - I have a Montesa 309 which I obtained about a year ago it was in a very poorly state overall. After much mechanical restoration work, it is now nearly ready to go but the wiring is a mess ( had been butchered in the past) & it appears to have a regulator / rectifier which looks like it doesn't belong to the bike. I am unable to make any sense of it & need a circuit diagram of the wiring for this bike to see what it should & shouldn't have in the ignition circuit. Any body got a wiring diagram for this bike ? If you can - please help an old duffer get this old ( ish) bike up & running again. Cheers - D…

Hi to all, I never fancied trials and could never see the point of it, been riding since i was 11 (which was a LONG time ago) and i then did 5 years of road racing, and five of Enduro and had road bikes in between. Well now is the time and i have bought a sorted 1998 Gasgas 320 of a mate and i can't get enough of it. A lot of my mates, some of who have done well in MX and national road racing are doing trials and love it. I've only been riding the bike for a couple of weeks but i've picked up a few things already and all i can say is sorry to all those i used to turn my nose up at. Ignorance really is bliss. If i had one of these bikes when i was a kid i'd be 10 times th…

Allo, Allo, c'est Reuben. I'm not actually French, but anyways.... -Have been thrust into trials. I knew it would happen someday... just didn't expect it last Wednesday. Not that there's anything wrong with this. No, not at all... Got a call from a nephew of Uncle Dave, who passed away in '84, whom I ran into at one of the Vintage TT weekends here in Nova Scotia about eight years ago..... won't bore you avec the details, but uncle Dave introduced me to 'Real Motorcycles'....I was scrummaging around on my paperroute bought CT200 when he happened along and offered me a ride....I was 11. I had recently learned the theory of the clutch, but had yet to put it into…
