Another oldie thinking of restarting up in the North West. Started riding a 250 Bultaco in 1974, also had a Montesa 247 UKR and my last was a Beamish Suzuki. Stopped when I moved into rallying in 1978 so thats a 32 year gap, Blimey I most be getting on at 50yrs !!!! So whats changed ? will being 50 make me a veteran ? Looking to get a Sherco as a friend works for a dealer, but whats this NO seat ! will my legs manage to stand all the time!.

Hi guys (& gals?) I'm new here and Jeez, I'm getting old... I did a lot of club trials and we used to go to the SSDT regularly in the mid 70's as a spectator. (Bultaco Frontera 370 Enduro.) Continued biking ever since and I'm about to start Classic trialing again. (57!) I live in Mallorca so it's gonna be a Montesa or a Bulto or an Ossa. Trials is big here if on the dry side! No streams & no rivers except when it rains. Then we get torrents that would wash away Ewan McGregor complete with GS. But there's loads of enduro & off-roading except in July/August and then the cops chase the young 'uns coz they'll start forest fires. (The cops have KTMs.) I'm goi…

Morning everyone, just bought a Fantic 247 to renovate and compete in North Lancs area trials. They're a lot more technical than my old Montesa, Bultaco's and Ossa's ever seemed to be. Already met Bill Pye who seems to know more than anyone else about these machines. Can anyone direct me to any legal practice areas in North Lancs please. Thanks.

Hi All, The names John (42yrs) and I've been riding road bikes for 20+ years and currently ride a YZ250 in Junior Motocross and Club-man level Enduro. I've just taken the plunge and purchased a 2004 Sherco 290 with a view to getting access to more ride time and improving my general bike control and balance. Right now I've been reading the site for tips and general how to for the mechanical side of things and will soon be delving into the techniques side of things. So far I've not ridden the bike but will be aiming to do so ASAP. I'll probably be asking silly questions so I apologise now and beg your pardon. Any tips for a total newbe? Regards John

My son has learned quickly and is riding Intermediate, I am riding novice. We have a lot of fun and the people we have met in the sport are great!

I managed to get out on my bike today for a few hours this is the first time I have ridden it and it felt so alien after not riding for 28 years. I managed to get over a tree stump in the middle of the track that I use to get up to the woods. I tried a few wheelies without success but I got better by the end of the day and managed about 5Ft on the back wheel.

  13. Hi, my name is Matt. I live in shropshire and am making a return to trials. I bought a 2000 monty 315r about 5 years ago and rode it everywhere with no problems ever.. I thought i would like to try something different so a couple of years ago i sold the monty and decided to buy a quad and try that. had a very bad quad expierience (of the maintenance kind), then sold it and got an enduro to ride the lanes. OK, but i miss the trials riding too much so have sold the enduro bike and are looking to buy a trials iron later in the month. Would love to hear from anyone else in shropshire out there riding trials and poss meet up for some days out. Usual day jaunt is toms farm or a…

Greetings from beautiful British Columbia. I've just discovered this site and am already finding it to be a wealth of information. I've been on two wheels for many years, but have only discovered the delights of off road riding over the last five years or so; mainly dual sporting on older bikes. My current favourite dualsport steed is a '79 Yamaha XT500. I bought an '83 Fantic 240 from our local 'feet up' guru Dave Rhodes last summer, and am only now getting around to doing some serious (for me) riding. Needless to say my ambitions do not match my current capability! But I reckon that even being in my mid-50s does not preclude learning something new. My learning curve t…

Hey all, completely new to this forum and trials riding, just got myself a beta techno 250 1999. I live in the wiltshire area, Lyneham to be specific. If anyone is near me and knows some good places to ride let me know, although flat tarmac is proving to be quite difficult to ride at the mo! track stand is so much easier on a push bike!!
