As a new participant in vintage trials events, I have really caught a bug. I truly look forward to upcoming events as a kid would look forward to Christmas. As my thirst for riding trials grows, I look for more events (within a reasonable driving distance). I have been interested in making it out to some AHRMA events but was alarmed to hear that AMA and AHRMA may be at odds. Has anyone else heard this or are the conspiricists pulling my leg? If AMA was to split, would AHRMA lose it's insurance (which is why I pay my AMA membership)?

Pat's out time is 9:58 AM. #45 in your program. Weather is drizzle rain, but looks to clear by the afternoon. About 50 degrees. Course looks to be very technical. Mountain sections, forest sections, river sections and beach sections. I don't have to tell you, the Junior class is stacked with talented riders. With that.... Go Pat Go!

Here is a link from the AMA Direct Link Site about an upcoming vote by the Consumer Product Safety Commission that is scheduled to take place on Wed 4-8-09. Hope you will take the time to follow the link and send a letter to the commission. It seems that our letter writing and e-mail have had an effect, as several US Reps and Senators are supporting our position and have written the commission expressing their desire to see that the ban on kids ORV's and bikes be lifted. Good relaxed times were held at the TTC last weekend! Everyone old and new got to do their thing and there were many smiling faces there, some worked, some rode, some practiced some just had a good time! Folks from all over I seen, D4, D7, Mota, KY, GA, TN, MI and TX. I know I must be missing some here! I seen some guy named Geoff from Co on monday! Lots of expert teachers! Ryan Young included! Ray, Ron, Ronnie, Jim, Pat, Alex, David, Charlie, and Dan (who am I forgetting) all did their thing and everyone got a workout! Including those Miller brothers! If you watched the Nitro Circus on MTV the great Lane was on there helping Travis Pastrana and his crew with stunts. All this time I thought he was full of it. But he was there in the flesh. He didnt get much talking in but helped with stunts. This show has been my favorite. Travis and his crew do a show kind of like Jack Ass. The USA page sure has gotten boring lately. Maybe I should apologize to the Ice Girl or something. Anybody out there. Did Copey and Craig lose their computer privlages.

Well, After beating my gums about it for several years, we were able to start a twinshock/vintage series here in Oklahoma and our first meet was last Sunday. Tommy Moore (Shan's Dad) and I set up the sections which turned out to be just right. We had a big BBQ after, prepared by Gary Simmons of JVR vintage restorations (the meet was held on Gary's property) and everybody had a great time. I've been wanting all those neat old bikes dragged out of the garages and put to work doing what they do best. The Tulsa TV station covered it and had a great segment on it that night. I got my DVD of the TY 80 Nationals from www.rypusa.com This is really a good DVD. 4 top riders competing on a 1976 TY 80 for cash and trophy girls. The best part is all of the money raised from the DVD goes directly to the USA TDN fund. The riders are Cody Webb, Ryan Young Chase Harker and Deigo. The DVD started out slow but then the competition get pretty serious. These guys flip the bike around like no problem. I used to ride at TY 80 when I was I a kid. I just found out I did not use the bike to the full potential. This bike gets bottomed out more than you could imagine. Im surprised the bike still runs. The 0mnibus bill voted down last week by the US House is back before the Senate as a similar package and is up for a vote as early as Monday March 16th by the Senate for yet another vote- A vote specifically designed to override the vote as taken by the US HOUSE last week. Here is a release from the AMA regarding a vote that took place yesterday in the US House of Representitives. In a nutshell, it prevented the unilateral designation of over 2 million acres of land as wilderness. Much of this property is currently in use for many uses including fishing, camping, horseback riding, ORV riding and more. This is PROOF POSITIVE that our activisim works. The "greens" will continue their agenda that includes keeping all of us (motorcycle riders of all types) off the land that is paid for with our taxes. I collected a historic scrapbook (actually it's going into 2 now) for our club (NEOTT) and got old photos, banners, flyers etc from the old members and made copies for the book. I happened to run into this results sheet from the 1974 Oklahoma National and thought some of you "older" Trials riders (like me) might get a kick out of it. I know that we are all members on this side of the pond of that little organization out there AmA. We also get their little magazine that promotes legislation and government stuff and some Harley rides though our beautiful country. I usually flip through it and file it promptly after realizing that our sport has very few articles and that we don't see many people coming down on us trials riders. Its nice to see that they still recognize us and our pro riders out there to an extent but this month I found to great articles that are related to trials! From the front page of NATC site " We lowered the entry fees to $75 for riders, $40 for minders. Late fees are $100 on Friday before weekend events and $150 for day of event for riders. Minder late fees are $50. The refund period is extended to two weeks after the event." Correct me if I'm wrong, if a riders arrives at Omaha Friday the 29th and enters for the events on the 30th and 31st, the entry fee is $100 ?. AND " We adopted a twin shock class that will ride the support line" What are the rules on bike requirments, Age of machine, air cooled, twin shock, drum brake ?.
