USA Trials

Our club has about 15 members and about 8 show up for our events. The USMTA is suggesting all clubs join the AMA. With the cost of insurance purchased through the AMA and the necessary paperwork to complete how is the AMA benefical to our club? Terry

I'd like to apologize to everyone for being so harsh for the past years. I was simply trying to prove the point that our riders are not as good as they think they are in the USA. Finally Laia Sanz and the 125cc world riders proved that point once and for all. Seeing is believing, they spanked us! I remember coming back into trials after a 20 year layoff and having to lisen to senior works riders who couldn't ride very well back in the 70s tell me how good they were today. How much better they rode now than back then, it was amazing, they still rode bad, only now they were old! Having seen all the rhetoric from the man on these forums, how good was he as a rider? is their any video footage about we could see as I really have no idea if he was/is any good?

I'm confused. When did the United States trials scene become a circus show? Here it's mid-summer and our pros are out entertaining the crowds like a bunch of half time cheerleaders at a football game. While other nations young and old riders are competing in competitions, our top pros like Geoff Aaron, Cody Webb, Keith Wineland and Patrick Smage are hanging out in the Supermoto pits gabbing with Doug Henry about a loose throttle cable - while drooling at Michael Jordan's Suzuki in Wisconsin or hopping over police cars in California. I can see our old washed up champion's of the sport doing these shows like this, that's what they are suppose to do. But our top pros?

In a discussion elsewhere on here, we are speaking of the various class names that are used, and hopefully working towards some standardisation. Some people feel it is important, and some not but no matter which side you are on, most folks should be able to give their take on this related, but slightly seperate subject. What in your opinion, put into words, makes a rider an "Advanced" class rider. Lane, Mich, The Beave, (That bugger has more aliases than that cute little girl on that show) keeps talking about all these senior "works" riders so ask you national champion senior folks what does your factory ride get you? Free bikes? Free parts? Free clothes? Gas money to the events? I know none of that, but what do ya get a small percentage off stuff maybe you tell us. Ron what do you give your senior "works" riders? My wife got a call Tuesday night that Bill Markham lost his lease on the property he has been using for his schools and events. For those that don't know Mr.Bill is the International Trials School where he puts on great classes for newer riders and awesome smaller trials that have five sections and a short loop.He has brought more people into trials than anybody else I know with his demos and 100's of other trials things he does. There will be no more riding there as of May 1st. His summer series was just about to get started where he was going to have 2 or three trials a month,April 22nd. will be the last on there. We need to start a new format for our sport. SCABeR trials. This is a new spectator format. It is a heads up trial only open to the following competitors. Well maybe not arrested but who has not wanted to ride over a cop car. Over the weekend on Sunday Cody Webb and Colton Haaker who rode the High School class at the Nationals did a demo at a Vintage Motorcycle show. There were about 500 people at the show. Cody and Colton pleased the crowd. They rode over the car in every possible direction. Jumped at least a 6 foot gap from a spool to the car and had the crowd going. I cant say how many people came up after their shows and said how impressed they were. A few people tok our phone numbers for more info. The organizer of the show kept saying how they made the show. You make a grave mistake living in the past and comparing you or me to anything happening today Ron. We are old news! You also make a BIG mistake using Geoff Aaron as a role model or yardshick Ron. So, reading the banter, and sitting and thinking about it, particularly the comment about 5 US pro riders. What effect would making the US pro class substantially harder have? Although really the same could be asked of any class at any level. My personal opinion is that we would have that many less riders in class, with many opting to drop down, or possibly out. Anyone else have some thoughts on this? What if we added another class (this is theoretical by the way, I am not advocating nor endorsing nor saying we should do this) on top of the Pro line in US trials that we called the "want to go to World" line. Who would ride it?

I was a spectator both days and was VERY impressed with the European Youth riders on their 125's. They made most of our Expert riders look really bad. It was almost embarrassing. As his timing is impeccable with his survey shortly after most anyone interested in trials just witnessed the majority of National Class Expert riders get their a-ss-es kicked by a bunch of kids on 1.25's, looks like Dman is going back to school early! Compare the scores! Women's world champion Laia Sanz had a big impact on the US pro class. Her scores would have given her solid finishes in the US Pro class against America's best male riders. Her great results against America's best underscores the need for a complete overhaul of the US women's championship. Unless US lady trials riders are allowed to move up the men's ranks at the NATC championship and still retain the US ladies title. We will never see another American Women's world champion. It should be obvious that any lady rider wanting to be world trials champion needs to ride at a US pro class level. Not even the US expert class comes even close to her level…
