Hi I have an old '72 XL250 that I'm thinking of building into a trials bike, similar to the Jefferies bike. Any thoughts on how the head angle was steepened? Im favouring heat bending the top tube but I'm open to suggestions. Thanks in advance Mart

Ages ago I posted details of my Norman B4 fitted with 8E motor. Having gone through it and replaced seals, bearings, rings and correct gearings I was disapointed in lack of power. Still using 8E barel with 40thou off top I was wondering what are the differences in the 7E barrel and compression. I have a spare standard barrel,so a case of reboring the suitable one with 1H piston, any words of wisdom out there?

  8. I'm old (81+) with a new acquisition of a 1977 Canadian market TY175. I'm way past stand-up motorcycling leg strength, and, so, seeing this bike advertised for a song, I remembered back in the day, Cycle World in the States reviewing the then new TY175 and remarking that it was the best "trail" bike they'd tested. I bought it, thinking it was so light and maneuverable, that it would suit the woods and logging road riding available here on Vancouver Island. I found right away that the foot pegs are too high and far back for my wretched legs to be comfortable in my preferred sitting style, so I acquired foot peg brackets and rear brake pedal from a 1975 DT175. This moved…

  9. Recently purchased from the original owner, a 1975 Bultaco Sherpa 250. The bike was registered in Northern Ireland and I have brought it back to England. I have sorted out the registration as it only had the original hand written document issued in NI. So, a new V5C has been issued after DVLA sent an engineer to check it all out. The bike is exempt from road tax and MOT, and as no lights were fitted when new, it does not have a brake light. I realise I can only use this bike (on the street) during daylight/good visibility, but would anyone know if I have to fit a brake light. I have read elsewhere that if the brake light wasn't fitted from new then it is not needed.…

Hello, the attached picture is of an Enfield Starmaker i am trying to identify the forks. I need some for the Johnny Britain works 1964 ISDT bike that Hitchcocks motorcycles have acquired. As far as we know they were made by Reynolds, most likely built by Ken Sprayson for the ISDT bike. He made some similar ones for Geoff Dukes Norton so few questions any idea where I can get a set ? we’re they used on any other trials/scrambles bikes ? any idea who could make a pair ? thanks Richard

Hi All, I'm looking to buy a pre 65 trials bike to one day compete in the Scottish and other pre 65 events. I am a modern trials rider and the pre 65 scene seems a bit of a mine field...I am 6 foot 5 and 105kg's so it needs to be something with reasonable power, although I appreciate it's not going to perform like a modern trials bike. I like the look of the tiger cubs and I know someone who has a good one for sale (230cc), but people tell me they can be a pain to set up. BSA C15 also seems like a popular option, but reasonably heavy? And I think a Bantam would be underpowered? If anyone can provide a bit of advice, that would be greatly appreciated. …

My 75' Honda TL250 has the stock tiny foot pegs. I see kits advertised to modify & enlarge the original footrests by welding in steel pieces. Have a MIG welder etc but would prefer to just buy quality modern style complete pegs that fit with none or minimal modification. Does anybody make these for my bike?

Can any body help me please. I have just fitted a wide Tiger Cub swinging arm to a BSA Bushman frame but the bantam hub appears to be too wide to fit. Is the Cub wheel hub and fittings narrower than the Bantam? I always thought they were the same. Or must I get a cub rear wheel? Oldun.
