I'm intending to replace the standard kill switch with a lanyard type as it gives me a little more assurance when I jump ship. Will be using one of the standard magnetic type switches as replacement. Is this a straightforward mod where I follow the wiring loom from the switch until I come to bullet connectors and simply unplug the old ones/plug the new one in? Any advice appreciated. Thanks.

Seeing lots of Montesa's placing well in Trial 2 this year (Martyn, Grattarola, Moret, Marcelli). Are these guys running pretty much stock machines? Or are they modded out to the max like Bou's and Fuji's machines?

Hi all. I'd like some advice on the breather system on my 2005 4rt. The previous owner must have binned off the white plastic catch tank thats fitted under the headstock. He's relocated the pipe from the left hand side of the cylinder head to the airbox. Theirs another pipe going from the right hand side of the cylinder head to the injector and a transmission breather that is just pointing down where the swing arm and rear shock is. It doesn't quite look correct to me. How should it be set up as i can't find much info on it in the manual. Cheers, Gaz.

Apart from rear fender ,fuel tank, front pipe do you need anything else to change a freeride into a trials 4rt.

Hello to all, I would like to simplify the oil breather tube system of my Montesa 4rt. There is currently a pipe from the engine rises towards the headstock and arrives in a white box, from which depart two tubes: one is a drain, and one goes to the throttle body. I want to delete everything, and bring the engine vent directly down, mounting a small filter to protect against impurities. It can be done ? Thank you

Still can’t lock the back wheel on tarmac. I have: Replaced pads for Apico items Bled system and replaced fluid with fresh Dot 4 (nice place to put the reservoir!) Rubbed disc with wet & dry on a flat surface plate and cleaned with carb cleaner. Pedal seems there and doesn’t pump up but brake is no where as good as my old gas gas (or even older Tiger Cub come to think of it!) Is it new master cylinder or different/longer aftermarket brake pedal time? Any advice appreciated Bruce

Im wondering if the recent increase in new montesa 4rt bikes in the states might help with parts availability. I know I can get parts thru exclusive distributors, but I would like to be able to go on Hondas microfiche and select and purchase parts thru my own choice of distributor.

  12. Hello, have anybody used these kind of tachometers on Montesa 4RT engine ? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u6-RZCjBvxc I bought the same one but this has three settings: Mode 1: spark plug fires twice per rev Mode 2: once per rev Mode 3: every other rev Which one should go for Montesa 4RT ? Thanks!

Hi i've got a fuel problem on my montesa 315 . I haven't used it for a couple of months so I decided to give the carb a clean and at the same time I replaced the old fuel line with a new one . Now there is no fuel coming out of the petcock . It comes out with no pipe on . so the petcocks not blocked and the fuel line isn't trapped or kinked .

Hi everyone, Collecting a new repsol rep next week. Just a quick questions on oils. I'll be running the Elf oil in the gearbox and have bought some Castrol power 1 racing fully synthetic 10w30 for the engine. I've since noticed some are running 10w40 although the manual states 10w30 repsol. Will the stuff i've bought be ok? Quite happy to return it for 10w40 or the even the standard power 1 semi synthetic in either wights if more suited? Thanks

Hi, My front brake wasn't working too great so I decided to give it clean and one of the pistons was seized so I bought a seal and piston kit. The new pistons seem to drop in nicely without the seals so hopefully should make for a much better front brake. I recall seeing on here that the seal are kind of wedged shaped and they should go in a specific way. However, looking at the seals they seem to be square. Is there a specific way that the seals or put into the caliper other than with some brake fluid for lubrication? Cheers

How do you stick in the little grills on the mudguard? I’ve cut some from some 1mm grill material and tried sticking it in with bathroom sealer and duct tape but they work loose during a trial. Seemed to work ok with silicon sealer on my 2007 4RT but not as good on this 2016 model. Being from down south I think it’s worthwhile trying to stop the mud getting into the air box. If you have any photos from the underside of a 2014 or later sowing how to fix the grill that would be perfect.

On both my cota 123 and 348 there is the 'embossed' M on both lower fork legs, on my newly acquired cota 247 'montesa' is 'embossed'.......348 is 1976 Malcolm Rathmell rep, 123 is also around mid 70's,...........and the 247 is 1978. Anyone know reason for change..........?

  19. Greetings - I "trail" ride my 06 and have burned the back side of the knee out of two pairs of pants on the header pipe before the shield. A common wisdom cure is the hope - the new ones have a longer shield I noticed. Likely a new location for the mount as well. Ideas Pics appreciated - and thanks too for reading!

I see the 2017 300rr appears to have gone up by £100 to £7599. I was thinking it was about time they came down a bit??? Any sign of the 2018 300rr? Looks like all that's different is a new side stand and stickers?
