  1. I knew a few bikes with a lean knock when rolling off the throttle...there was a jet and slide kit ( different venturi angle?) but mine was happiest with superdooper high RON fuel.

i cant get super unleaded here, would octane booster help i wonder? the one i got for my old lad has a bit of knock rolling off alright

  2. is the carburation an issue on these?

as in what way? mine starts 2nd kick from cold, first kick when hot, get the odd stutter sometimes but following my mates 2010 gasser the other day and his does the same!

  3. doesnt sound too bad for the money, i've just bought my another as a present for my old lad and paid €900 for it although its a 99 model. i've had my 98 model for 2 years and had to do very little to it, chain and sprockets, wheel bearings etc. they are mechanically pretty much bombproof and i dont think you'll regret it. oh and the bracket that holds the front mudguard on is the brace. if you want to update the looks the fastest, easiest way is to heat the rear mudguard and make it more straight like a gasser/sherco etc!

  4. Hi

I am fairly new to the sport of trials.

After 18 months of cuts and bruises I have taken to wearing some armour , knee and elbow .

It has made a huge difference and will not ride without it now.

I know the pros would not be seen dead wearing armour but why do so many club riders refuse to wear any , its the club rider that takes most of the damage.

I use light weight mountain bike gear , it does not get in the way , it gets a little hot in the warmer weather but its a trade I am happy to live with.

What is the general feeling from the old timers of trials ?

any chance of you posting links to where you get the stuff from?

  5. I deglaze mine (Pads and disc) very regularly, that helps a lot. Also, getting the brake as hot as possible and then quenching with cold water seems to bring them to life too. I read about it, was a little sceptical but tried it and sure enough it works.

funnily enough i did this to both of mine today!! it works too!

  6. I posted my 4rt setting a while ago. Have a look or I when I get chance will have a look and copy. Suspension is basically same on 4rt/315 although bike weight and bias may be different but proabaly a good starting point

i was told by pidcocks that that rebound should be about 5mm down the tube if that makes sense, and rebound should be 10 clicks out from full in, didnt get anything about the rear shock though.

  7. right problem panic over..... i picked up another 99 315r one owner machine thats as genuine as i could imagine, still on the original tyres and plug!! anyhoo i cleaned the carb and changed the plug fresh gas etc, 1 kick to start after 4 years standing!!! thing is it sounds exactly like mine!! guess that i was just being paranoid about mine thanks for the answers lads!

  8. Hi,

why do you think "top-end/little end"?

From my experience if the rattle occurs under load on the gas it will be your bottom end!

Top end rattles are more noticable on the run-down and on throttle off.

Is there noticable vibration through the bars,do you get a tickling sensation through the jewls while sat on the bike?

it only taps on acceleration, its a bit vibey although its the same as when i got it 2yrs ago. ill try the sitting test tommorow i presume at tickover/idle?

  9. went out for a little play today and wore my snowboard helmet for a change (couldnt find my trials one) any way the upshot is i can hear the engine more than i would normaly...... anyway when i give it gas it rattles/taps under load ie pulling hard in 3rd it sounds stop end to me so was thing maybe little end? if it is i was wondering what else woulod you do if the top end is off? rings? also how do you find out wether you have a, b,or c barrel?
