  1. The main reason I bought an aftermarket shock <Hi Lineaway>, was durability, and servicability. The OEM Sachs shock fails and the shock has no damping. And even if it doesn't fail, it will eventually lose damping. The 2013 Evo stock has very good valving. Interesting enough, the 2014 shock is totally out of whack. This is because the shock was meant to go with different linkage, like the 2013 Factory 300, but then they nixed the new linkage. The shock was set up for the different linkage. This has been confirmed by shock dyno. Anyway, I agree with most- Stock shock is good enough for most, but will eventually fail or just need service. That is why most people buy an aftermarket shock. I used to service Ohlins and they are very high quality. Hope this helps.

  2. Hi, I was just having a problem with gas pouring out the overflow on my '13. I found a very very small piece of aluminum in the cavity where the needle goes in the seat. It was hindering the movement of the needle. I got lucky finding it, it was the size of a small grain of sand. No problem now. I would reccomend a fuel filter also.

  3. The Sachs shock on the Evos are prone to failure. The nitrogen gets past the piston and into the oil. The result is a loss of damping. It happened to myself, and also my friend on his Evo. My guess your shock was bad for a while, and you got used to the reduced damping. The reduced damping makes the rear suspension very springy, and does in fact help with hopping, and some other aspects of riding, but at the cost of poor handling in other regards. My advice is to set the spring preload so that you get 20 mm static sag (no rider, bike sag only), then back the adjuster all the way out. It may just take a while to get used to a properly working shock again. Disregard the previous advice about watching a video on how to adjust the clickers on a Reiger shock, it will not be of value to you.

  4. Hi, Have a 2011 Evo 2T that pops out of 2nd gear. It can be downright dangerous, and has caused me injury. The brochure info for the 2012 models states "Revised gearbox cam with a different thickness, for even smoother gear engagement." The brochure info for the 2013 models states "Shift drum: New shift drum with a modified shape to allow smooth action of the gearbox, greater fluidity and precise riding." So I'm wondering if the shift drum was updated to help with this problem. But along with that, I have talked to riders with both 2012 and 2013 that have had their bikes pop out of 2nd gear as well. So I'm just trying to find out any information on this subject, others experiences with this, and perhaps if someone has a fix.

  5. I have tried a few different ones, and my favorite, by far, are the Raptor Titanium. They are light and strong, but also, they have a platform that doesn't tear up the soles of your boots as much, and are comfortable on your feet on long rides.

  6. Hi, sorry to hear it. I tore my ACL racing MX several years ago. It took me about 6 months to get mostly back to normal, didn't ride for about 9 months. I have seen different recovery times, and one of the factors is the how they do the surgery. In my case the graft to replace the ACL was taken from my Patella Tendon. Some times they use the calf or cadaver parts, and from what I have seen those have faster recoveries. Good news is my knee has been fine since. I intially wore a DonJoy brace the doctor provided, then switched to over the counter Asterisk, but I don't wear a brace for trials, just moto. Hang in there, it's sets you back, but you can have a complete recovery and enjoy being active again.

  7. HI, I recently bought the Arrow/Bosi header pipe that uses the stock silencer. I rode it today for the 2nd time. I makes the bike more tractable, slower revving, and hooks up better, at the cost of high end power. If you run at low RPM's much of the time I think it's a nice upgrade, but it does flatten out. I think it will be good in sections and a bit of a drawback on trails. The quality and fit of the Arrow is outstanding as well.

  8. Hi, does anyone know if the Arai Penta fits the exact same as Arai Hyper T? I tried on a Large Hyper T and it was too small. Then I tried on a Large Penta at a later date, and it seemed to fit. This was on differnt days so I wasn't able to do a back to back comparison. I can't just go to shop and try on different ones, as these are not imported to the US anymore. I know the 2 helmets look to be the same. Anyway, as they have to be mail ordered I was trying to determine if they do in fact fit different. Thank you.

  9. I recently bought a used 2011 250 2t Evo. I was having problems shifting. I've got it working better. First, I got the red Beta accessories clutch slave cylinder. I also adjusted the clutch with less free play then my previous bike. These 2 things have helped the problem to the point where it's not a big deal. Hope this helps!

  10. I dont believe the oil manufactures list cst value on the packaging labels. I found a list of suspension oils with its cst value listed in order of lowest to highest on the web. The last time i looked some of the info is no longer availiable. However i did make a copy of the page which i found most usefull. I could post it here, but not sure if that is ok with ADMIN. If you want a copy send me your email adress through the pm system and i will send you a GIF file copy. It will make the tuning process much easyer.

Hi, thank you Liviob for you offer, it is much appreciated. For some reason when I try to PM you I am unable, it says you are unable to receive new messages.

    Regards,

    Mike

  11. Over the weekend i changed the oil in my bikes forks. I am trying to firm the compression feel up a little. I didnt break the fork legs down completly to measure the passages in the damper rod as nif40 may not have the same year bike and breaking them down completly requires more time. What i did was in the right leg replace the red line light "18.4cs" with motul shock oil "16.1cs" which is a faster oil and in the left leg i replaced the Belray HVI 3wt "11cs" with Silkolene pro rfs 2.5wt "13.6cs". Which is a slower oil. I left the spring preload setting alone and used the factory oil height setting. What i noticed wad a slightly slower or firmer compresion stroke equivelint in feel to one to two clicks on a compression adjuster.

I porposely did not make any change to the rear suspension and now the front is a little slower during compression than the rear.

HI, where are you getting the "CS" ratings from? I have looked at 3 brands of suspension fluids and none have it on the bottles. Thanks

  12. Hi, I just bought one with the large reservoir. I thought it was the one with the larger bore, but it wasn't. It made my clutch feel strange. Didn't care for it at all, went back to stock. I took the seals, etc out of the new one and put it in my original to freshen it up, so this also confirmed the bore was the same. I guess you have to get one from a 315 to get the bigger bore? A bit puzzled myself. Let us know how it works out for you.

  13. Hi, I am using the Jitsie footpeg brackets. They are super strong, and move the pegs back a bit. A bit cheaper than the Raptors also. I also run the V-mar brake pedal. It's a bit shorter so it works well the pegs further back. I run the Lewisport linkage plates. The geometry is the same as the V-mar ones, but since they are made of stainless steel they hold up well. I have seen the alloy V-mar ones get the holes egg shaped after much much use. I found that my bike steering better with them aftermarket linkage plates.
