  1. Hi my 2012 280 was the same and I also had it stalling sometimes on downhills. I checked the float height (see the 2008 2t With Keihin Carb post in the Beta forum for a pdf describing how to check) and it was ok but adjusted to allow slightly more fuel through and now it starts much better without any throttle and I haven't had it stall yet.

    Race Or Raga

Hi I have a 2012 Raga 280 and have just changed from a 2011 Raga 280. The 2012 Raga has the Tech forks and a Reiger shock, I have noticed a massive improvement in suspension both front and back from last years raga which had the Marzocchi forks. I don't know why the rear feels so much better unless the forks are letting it work better but thats what I've noticed. A friend has a 2012 280 Racing (Marzocchi forks) which I have ridden and it's a good bike but the 2012 Raga has much better suspension, Ajp brakes and clutch which I think are better and if you bend the gearbox shaft it's hundreds of pounds cheaper to fix. Also the Reiger shock on the Raga has additional adjustment and the Raga reed block is not on the Racing although I don't know how much difference this makes. The owner has said next time he'll get a raga rather than a racing based on us swopping bikes a lot during practising. The Racing is probably the best value of the range, but you're comparing last years racing model 2012 with the raga which has the new for 2013 features. Personally I'd go for the 2012 Raga over the 2012 Racing without any hesitation. You will notice the improved suspension whatever level you ride at.
  3. Hi I have a 2011 280 raga which I fitted a low compression cylinder head, slow action throttle and flywheel weight when I first got it. These changes mellowed the power, as I got used to the bike I changed to a slow to fast cam throttle and then later put the standard head insert back in so could recommend these changes. Cheers
  4. Hi I have a 2011 280 Raga which has a low compression head insert and flywheel weight. I had these fitted from new on Steve Saunders recommendation and the bike is really great, with very controllable power while still having crisp throttle response. I never rode it standard but for a novice/clubman level rider it's great. Hope this helps, cheers
  5. Hi, I booked the trials school online at the G2F shop, the product has gone from the shop now so I guess next years school will appear nearer the time. You can always call them to find out. G2F Shop Dougies page on this years school 2010 Trials School I went this year and it was really good fun, they are also really good at encouraging you to try stuff thats beyond your comfort zone. Cheers
  6. Hi I have a 98 315R which I have had from new, haven't used it for years after breaking my ankle in 2002 but got back out on it a couple of months ago. Have made some mods since digging it out of the garage and was surprised to find how much difference they made. Both my girlfriend and a mate were learning to ride trials on this bike and we were all really surprised how much difference they made. Mitani clutch - expensive

Hi take a look at this post which links to the 2002 Owners Manual : 315R Manual and Parts List. I found it really useful to search through the Montesa forum for info-got my 98 315R running nicer than when it was new using info in the forum to help!
